Same commute and got 30.5mpg today
30.5 with 3.55s?

It's so weird...I see some people with 3.15's saying they are using cruise in the 60s and arent getting close to that...more like mid 20's.

soooo confused...lol.

Do you guys have spare tires in these cars or the run flat kit?

3.55 and no spare. What I have noticed is when the car is cold (30s outside temp) the car dumps loads of fuel when warming up. I will roll into the parking lot at 30mpg in the morning and before I can even leave the lot my MPG drops 4mpg. By the time I hit the highway on my commute the car is warmed up and I reset the real time MPG read out. But to a tank in the winter im doing 22-23 with my daily driving. What really kills MPG is cold starts and little to and from trips. I did a 2hr 100mi round trip to the dealer and back shortly after I got the car, and i got 27mpg readout with cruise set at 60mph.

GT/Auto/3:55/Spare Tire, 2 passengers, 18.3 on first tank. Reset on fill up yesterday and took a 100 mile round trip 50/50 interstate/highway some city driving, up to 24.3. A little over 300 miles on the ODO.

Those #'s don't seem right especially in short commute in a GT. Typically, shorter commutes lessen mpg.

Question: Why are you using cruise control on a fresh motor? You should vary speed often for proper break-in, recommended by Ford.

It sounds like he is resetting the MPG display once he is on the freeway, running 60 on cruise - and then reporting the highest number he sees?

I also have an auto GT with 3.55s. Mine is just under 500 miles, and the best I have seen is about 21.5 at any single point (I reset every fill up), and my best full tank was 19.8. I have only run 2 full tanks though. That is with a mix of city/freeway and commute traffic.

I think, if I were to fill up and get right on the freeway, I could get up to 24 or 25 cruising at 70, and maybe 28 or 29 at 60

I am on the highway for about 6 miles, how does a short commute lessen mpg? I know a longer trip will net a more accurate number but thats what the read out says. I have 1200mi on the car I think im broken in.

Yes exactly, and I believe I stated that in one of my posts. But yes I do reset the real time read out once I hop on the highway and I get around 29.5-30.5 for that short distance. Now with my other daily driving included, stop and go, running errands etc I get about 22mpg to the tank. I have yet to do a full highway trip, but my longest was about a 100mi trip which showed 27mpg on the read out.

1100 miles in...

Car says im averaging 20.4 mpg, but I haven't really reset it lately.

Im getting somewhere around 330 miles to a tank with 70% highway and 30% hooning ;) .

Honestly the mpg is nowhere near as bad as I thought it would be...that plus the lowering gas prices' and I haven't paid a huge amount of attention to it :p

...because you don't get 30.5 mpg when only driving 6 miles.
Misleading to prospective buyers especially those interested in 'actual' Miles Per Gallon (MPG).

You should work for :ford:, they would love to report those #'s to EPA - help with CAFE too.

im not misleading anything....Tell me how you cant get 30.5mpg in 6 miles other than the fact that it doesnt add up? If I drove that 6 mile route 5 times I should roughly get 30mpg...Before you bash me read my previous posts in here. I never claimed the car gets 30mpg, I simply stated what the readout said during my short commute.
