On the convertible there is a plastic clip of sorts on the back rest. It says air bag on it. On the coupe there is no plastic clip.
What purpose does it have?

Not sure I understand the question, but AFAIK on convertible, the side air bags are hidden in the seats. On a fastback, they're in the door frame.

The plastic clip on the side of the front seats? They are supposed to be to run the seat belt through but when I had the belt running through there it sat awkwardly on me.

If it's on the shoulder of each seat, at the base of the headrest, it's the seatbelt guide. Nobody uses it since it's too low lol

^This. They are required to label where they are. I think you'll find that there is a label on the coupe as well, although I think that the airbag is likely running in the roof, not on the door frame (I could be wrong).
