Correct on the 2018+ using the 12mm head bolts, and they also reach down deeper into the block as well.
I don’t really see the head bolts as a factor when deciding on which block to use because any Machine Shop Can Machine your block for the new 12 mm bolts/studs

Nice informational thread. I tried reaching out to Reds in CA but is currently out of darton sleeves for gen2 block. Just wondering have anyone on the forum used L&M for sleeving or 11mm to 12mm conversion?

I had them rebuild an MMR 1500 block that failed (crank broke on turbo car ).
The pistons were trashed but I beam rods were still good . I also had them do the 11 mm to 12 mm conversion . They had to go over bore(original 3.7) a bit so they used custom diamond pistons .

It’s a “ spare “ now but if I sell the car I would consider selling it .

Any local machine shop can drill and tap the block for 12mm studs. I’ve had it done for free with other machine work. No need to send it to a expensive machine shop. It’s not difficult so I don’t think any competent shop would mess it up. If it was installing sleeves then yeah I could understand sending it off to a coyote Specializing shop. but just to drill and tap Some holes a local machine shops fine
