That's because our young people are embracing socialism, but that's a topic not for this forum. But some of the magic that the US used to have for me has disappeared.

Actually you've just stated support for the real reason that the US is fixated on gun rights, in a backhanded way. So thank you....Now imagine you live in a country where you were more likely to be killed by a lump of ice from an airplane toilet than someone trying to take your life.
That's what makes it so sad that some of you even have to think about carrying a gun to feel safe...
...Is it freedom if you can be sure you need a gun?
The perspective is the issue, nobody needs a gun here, if you needed one because there's so much riff-raff running around, something would be wrong.
If the US would fix its society and social system, you wouldn't need guns, not even in the worst neighborhoods. Some would call that socialism, for us it's liberty...
There isn't an iota of feelings involved. It's a cold, calculated risk response. And even if you want to shove binders full of papers under our noses declaring probabilities, it doesn't matter. Because the value is not zero. Crime tends to be highly spontaneous. That's what makes it so sad that some of you even have to think about carrying a gun to feel safe.
I'm guessing probably not, but the grandparents of his own country's fellow citizenry did have the muzzles of Lugers and Mausers shoved in their faces, many of which were then used....Have you had the muzzle of an AR-15 ten inches from your face?
One day soon one of your precious immigrants will change your mind. Your countrymen have already been assaulted, fondled, raped and killed while you stood around unable and unwilling to respond.use this saying for tools; I can rule out ever having to use it with a weapon
I could open that so called secure storage compartment in less the 5 seconds and have anything that is inside it. There is nothing or nowhere you can secure a gun in a vehicle that a determined criminal cannot access in a very short time frame. Taking guns away from law abiding citizens only makes criminals bolder and able to prey on the law abiding without fear for their safety. If I wanted/needed to carry a weapon, I would have a lockable gun compartment installed in the door panel.
At least to lock it, if I need to leave it in the car.

I don't carry a full size pistol anywhere. Compact frames for me. And, honestly, the older I get the less I like the larger calibers anyway. But that's another discussion.
To answer your question I'll either have it sit atop the drivers seatbelt buckle or I tuck it between the passenger seat and center console. I've debated trying to figure out a mounted type of thing for it but haven't seen any that I like.
That's rich, coming from someone who lives in or near one of the most historically violent and crime ridden cities on Earth.I'm jealous you live in a civilized country, as it is with most of Europe, where 50% of the population doesn't base their self worth or cokk size on how many guns they own, or feel the need to carry a gun on their person.
What are you gun carriers so afraid of that you actually carry a loaded weapon in your car?
Probably need to add alcohol and tobacco to that list. Since people can't be trusted to make their own decisions, Uncle Sam should protect us all, right @Spartan1 ?Let's just ban all motor vehicles since they kill more people than guns ever have from drunk drivers, distracted drivers, inexperience drivers etc, then we don't need to discuss carrying a gun in a vehicle since we will no longer have any to drive and carry in. They are also just tools that humans use to perform everyday tasks like thousands of other tools that have the ability to injure and kill people.
What a wonderful world we would have with no tool of any kind that could harm or kill a human, I think the boredom would get rid of the ignorant and stupid naive population sooner than the brave and people with good common sense so then we would only have responsible law abiding people left.
One can only dream.

I knew I forgot something else to put on that list.Probably need to add alcohol and tobacco to that list. Since people can't be trusted to make their own decisions, Uncle Sam should protect us all, right @Spartan1 ?

I do agree with this portion of your opinion. In my lifetime I've watched my country completely change and not for what I think is the better. As a point of reference, when I was a teenager in high school many of our trucks still had visible gun racks with shotguns and rifles on them and we'd go hunting after school. No one was ever hurt and no mass shootings ever happened at all back then. The guns were never the problem, something else has changed here and it ain't the guns....If the US would fix its society and social system, you wouldn't need guns, not even in the worst neighborhoods. Some would call that socialism, for us it's liberty...
