Yes the nut was staked. I literally just grabbed the diff with the ring, gave it a slight pull and it just fell out. I also noticed a lot of debris by the drain and fill plugs.

I did the opposite. Put resistance on the ring while turning the pinion. Saw someone do that on YouTube so I tried it. Now everything is disassembled. Once I put things together I will try your way. Much appreciated.

Took some measurements of the crush sleeves and here is what I found:
New crush sleeve:55.34mm
Used crush sleeve: 54.86mm
Diff: 0.82mm = 0.032in which is much less than 1/16inch

If I ever have to work on my diff I would prefer to toss the crush sleeve and use the shim set to set preload. It would take more time and probably a few rounds of "install, check preload, remove, add shims...".

Is this where others have been referring to as a non-crush sleeve? I have been looking online for one that first the IRS but I am not able to.

No one makes one yet. You would have to make your own.

I've called every vendor I know of and nobody even seems interested in making one. The super 8.8 doesn't get much aftermarket love and I really don't understand why. With that being said... that crush sleeve is probably the toughest I have ever had to crush. It took a ton of torque. I don't see it having to much issue with losing preload.
