Vibration stays the same. It actually seems more prevalent since there’s no exhaust noise.

I'm sure Kelly wouldn't mind looking at it, especially since you're already a customer. Yes you may need to pay him to inspect it, idk.

A local 6Ger has offered to let me borrow their lift and troubleshoot with me so I’m going to do that in a couple weeks. Then I’ll reach out to Kelly and see how much he will charge me.

About two years ago I noticed it. I’ve gone through multiple driveshafts and axles and wheels and tires vibration is the same every time. It spent 7 months in a crappy body shop after an accident.

Before , the first time I really noticed it was when I went to a solid dss driveshaft. That was at around 3000 miles. I didn’t really notice it when it was bone stock due to all the rubber in the drivetrain. Then around 1500 miles I installed a cat back so I was infatuated with that not really paying attention to anything else. Then 2500 miles installed a super charger then just past 3000 miles I installed the drive shaft and was like whoa what’s wrong with this driveshaft. Dss replaced it twice. The third driveshaft I sold and bought a shaft masters. Car was probably at close to 10k miles and now 2 years old. Wreck the car take it to a body shop who’s work I’d seen before looked awesome and was timely. They had the car 7 months. When I finally got it back I installed my clutch drive shaft and axles and springs. I thought the shaft master was going to cure all. Well the vibration is still there. In the same MPH zone. Car is almost 3 year old with 12 K miles on it.

I'm really surprised BMR or Steeda hasn't put together a kit to shim the transmission instead of using generic washers and bolts. Seems to be the most solid fix is to correct the angle of the trans.

I have the same vibration and am planning on looking into the angle fix this spring.

If this is a pinion angle problem, why aren't all cars affected ? Or at least all cars that get a 1-piece aluminum driveshaft ? I looked at a youtube video for swapping the 1 piece aluminum drives shaft, and the stock driveshaft appears to have rubber dampener parts. Is that normal on RWD vehicles, e.g. F150 ?

I wouldn’t think all cars would be affected it seems like the QC at Ford is t very good in respect to the mustang. I have a 2016 f150 and it’s actually very nice. I’m not sure if the f150 has a Guibo or not but it does have a one piece driveshaft.

I know it affects more Manuals then auto's that for sure. Could be a slight angle difference between the tailshafts of both transmissions followed by crap QC and IRS alignment.

All I know for sure is I have it lol

this seems like an interesting test for vibration. Although I am not sure why its not for CV axles. Also, the driveshaft appears to have CV joints, or something besides U joints. Can pinion angle be an issue for CV joints ?

https://www.driveshaftshop.com/driveshafts-101

DRIVESHAFT VIBRATION: 101 (not for CV axles)

Most people have trouble determining if the vibration in their vehicle is coming from the DRIVESHAFT or not. There are typically two types of vibration most vehicles would have. A fast cycle vibration or a slow cycle vibration, to help understand this lets say we put a bucket of water on the passenger’s floor. If the vibration in the vehicle produces small ripples on the top of the water this would be considered a fast cycle vibration. This type of vibration is usually a drive train vibration, things like the driveshaft, motor or torque converter. If the vibration puts waves on the top of the water or splashes, this type of vibration is a slow cycle vibration and usually is an axle or tire vibration. People have trouble determining where the vibration in their vehicle is coming from. Try the test below if your not sure.

Does the truck have 2 u-joints ? DSS shows a different driveshaft for manual than auto. I think just the manual has the Guibo.

Do you have any angle data from prior efforts? The stock drive shaft on the mustang looks like it has a u-joint in the center, and a CV joint at the diff. I read that a u-joint at an angle is supposed to be counterbalanced by another u-joint at an angle. With the stock driveshaft, it just has one u-joint, and I assume that doesn't angle. Leaving just the CV at the diff to angle. But I also read that u-joints are supposed to angle to help distribute grease as they rotate.

VEHICLE NOISE AND VIBRATION

around 16 minute mark,
calculate the frequency of each component at 100 km/hr
15 Hz , wheels, diff, axles
60 or 120 Hz , driveshaft

vibration frequency analyzer
pickup probe, attached the vibrating part (e.g. seat)
frequency displays on analyzer
also possible to estimate without an analyzer
