Performance Package or Not?

I started a thread with this question and never got a direct answer. Would be great to get 100% clarification but I think the base non PP GT and PP eco have similar or same suspension. They definitely have the same brakes. Two things the PP ecoboost has over the GT non PP in the handling department is less weight and wider summer tires.

This is my understanding as well. The EB PP and base GT are very similar chassis-wise.

A base GT with the 20" (summer) tires may be the sleeper of the bunch for a sharp handling cruiser, especially for someone who wants an AT.

PP it's worth every penny. The resale alone makes it a no question option.

I would venture a guess that in 2020 a 2015 Mustang with PP will only add a $100 to the value and not much more if the car us only 2 or 3 years old.

Options on cars add very little value to the used car price.

The only thing I have heard when being compared to the 1LE the PP was soft on track. I will be ordering the PP if I order one.

Lonerider, do yourself a favor and test drive a vert with PP and one without. I believe your back can decern the difference. I'm 65 with back problems and I could feel a bit more road harshness come through with the PP. If you're going to track the car, by all means get the PP. If you're going to cruise along in the vert with the top down, you might want the smoothest ride around, no PP. The IRS has done wonders for our new Mustangs. And Nick, thanks for your SERVICE!

Best advice on the whole thread. Neither base nor PP are "best." Both happen to be very good (not perfect) for their intended markets. Many will prefer the slightly more compliant base setup; many want the sharper responses from the summer tires and stiffer components in the PP. I think we've already established that a) the PP is a bargain, if you want what it is selling, and b) aftermarket springs and sway bars are far better than the PP for sporting driving. Guess what? There's still some of us that don't want either of those things because our priorities are not the same as yours.

Deal with it, guys. It's not better or worse. It's different.

OK, we are talking about the PP having a harsh ride. This is clearly very subjective.

I'm in great shape IMHO. No physical issues whatsoever. I'm an active guy and have never been seriously accused of being delicate I find the ride of the PP very much to my LIKING on GOOD ROADS. I usually drive on good roads so this tends not to be an issue. I find it a bit HARSH on BAD ROADS.

Please find some good and bad roads to drive the PP and non-PP on. I would have thought a bit harder If I had test driven that PP on bad roads. I'm good with my decision but again I would have thought about it a bit more.

I like my PP. I can see why folks like the non PP. it is all what you want. The good news is they are both great cars. I would be happy either way. Like folks say....drive them both and pick what is best for you. If there was one right answer, ford would have only made one. Good luck....enjoy...be safe

If you're sensitive to a stiffer riding car and plan on daily driving the mustang, I would think more about the non PP. my first 2015 was a non PP, and it rode like a dream, had great pickup, and was responsive without being twitchy. The 2015 I have now, a 5.0 w PP is a blast to drive, awesome acceleration, a great platform to build on as a lot of the things I would end up doing to the car are already done, ie brakes, chassis bracing, etc. there are times that I miss the first super smooth 2015 I had, but then remember it's not a DD. (it's hard not to drive it everyday, lol)

I stand corrected it's not $100 it's $300, this is based on used car prices for a 2010 Mustang.

Any automotive purchase with the exception of collectable cars is a piss poor finacing investment. Buying an option package like the Performance Package because it adds resale value is lunacy. You buy options because you want them and if you get more than 10 cents on a dollar of your investment when you sell the car consider your self lucky.

I have a GT with Performance Package and I think the ride is quite nice also. Not too bumpy at all. Also, if you are driving 35 mph to work and back the ride just be great.
