Should I get the performance package on a 2018 Mustang EcoBoost? I'll never track the car and my commute is pretty long but the bigger brakes, wheels, tires, spoiler, radiator etc. are pretty tempting. Also will getting it with the performance pack help the resale value in the future? I'll probably own this car for 2-3 years.
The non-Performance pack ecoboost I'm looking at has an MSRP of $32,000 with the 101A interior while the performance pack one is an ecoboost premium with an MSRP of $36,000.
Honestly having leather or not isn't really a selling point to me. I'm trying to get the most bang for my buck and not lose too much money on the car in the end. I'm expecting around $7,000 off MSRP for either one of these.

PP brakes are awesome. Just got delivery of my special order, with Xplan + incentives + $1,000 private cash got $6,000 off msrp.

If you aren't going to mod the car, the performance pack is a good deal. I'd say go ahead and get the performance pack if you aren't going to mod. And yes, it will help the resale value a little bit.

I got it on my 17 and I like it. For me, the only downside is a little stiffer ride on bumpy roads, but I'm willing to pay that price for the better cornering. And I really like having the extra gauges.

If you’re only going to own it for 3-ish years, why not lease? EBs are easy to get a good lease deal on.

Long commutes and leases don't go together.

That depends on overall monthly/yearly mileage. A 15k/year lease is approximately 288 miles/week (1,250/month). I don’t think Ford does larger than that, but, if the OP is within that range on weekly/monthly mileage it’s worth consideration; he merely stated “long commute” and we currently do not know how long. :sun:

So close! Def better off buying in that case.

In regards to the PP... after some time in my 2019 GT PP1 w/magneride (in normal mode), it’s definitely rougher/stiffer than my non-pp 16 GT was. Without magneride, I’d imagine that it’s even rougher. You may want to ask a dealer for a back-to-back and extended test drive on a PP and non-PP.

The EB is around 300lbs lighter up front. I don’t have magneride in mine and it’s not that stiffer, the 3.55 gears in the EB with the 10A in Sport+ drives very good.

I also realized that the engine noise (the fake one) is louder in Sport+ vs Normal.

I'll echo everyone else and say that if you're not planning to do any mods, the PP goodies are worth it especially if you're buying and plan to have the car for a few years. The cosmetic stuff alone (PP spoiler, black wheels) was worth it to me if you care about appearance and on top of that you get 3.55 gears and brembos. If you can, I'd recommend trying to find one optioned with the 101A package to get the selectable drive modes (and having SYNC 3 doesn't hurt) and mageneride if you think you'll even have an itch to do any type of spirited driving at all.

You can also shave a few bucks off if you go with the base trim as opposed to the premium which was a plus for me as I never cared for the leather in these cars so and I find the cloth seats to be more comfy. My car is in my sig and I miss driving it every day while I'm out of town at work.

When you say it's "not that stiffer", are you comparing it to a non-PP car? I don't mean to say that my PP1 w/Magneride is uncomfortably stiff, just that it is indeed stiffer/harsher than my 16 GT non-PP, and noticeably so on not-so-great roads (on good roads, it's unnoticeable).
