I’m new to mustangs and recently was given a later model base with a v6.
My plan is to swap to an 8 cylinder engine but I’ll be driving it for a few months first. Anyway there is a metal hose with a crack spewing coolant (in the yellow highlight area). Looks like a repair was attempted with JB Weld or something.
What is this part and how simple is it to swap with a good one?

"My plan is to swap [from a V6] to a V8 engine ..."

Just buy a V8 (GT, Mach 1, Shelby, Bullitt or whatever) or you will end up w/a half completed project that you will eventually have to pretty much give away just to get it out of your garage. If you are really 'in love' w/this Mustang, get a 'plug-&-play' V6 turbo kit. Then spend the extra $$$ on suspension &/or brake upgrades. Just sayin' ...

Ron - maybe wasn’t clear that this is my daily right now and it isn’t sitting around. No funds for buying a completely different car. I just want to stop this coolant leak.

I’ve looked on the internet for weeks but don’t see this part in a blow up diagram anywhere

Wild guesses here...

Heater pipe going through firewall? If it's cracked.. you can bypass heater entirely unless you live in the great white north.

Is this towards the back of the engine?

I'll 2nd the notion that it's a heater hose. Total guess, though.

JB weld isn't your friend here.

And I would highly suggest trading it in for a V8 when you're ready. Engine swaps aren't exactly simple. But it can be done.

Keep in mind your car is a 2000 and you're posting on a forum for 2015-2023 model years.

I believe that is a coolant line for your heater. It looks like it runs under the intake on the driver side then around the back of the motor towards the passenger side.

I found this ebay listing that should be it.
