General practice on most cars is to use a wheel chock or a 2x4 right after coming off a track session to prevent rotor damage with a parking brake.

I’m not sure whether ours are similar to other cars (ours have drum brakes in the rear for the parking brake), but would that result in any damage to our brakes if we were to use the parking brake immediately after hot laps?

Do most cars use drum brakes for their parking brakes? Should I stick to using a chock right after track, or will the seperate parking brake system be ok to use while still hot?

is your paddock area hilly? I just leave mine in 1st or reverse personally...

i'd not use the park brake, even though it's not on the rotor surface all that stuff is very hot

This is what I do. Never been in a paddock on a hill.

Spot on jmn444. 1st gear, do not use parking brake. I even push the car a foot or 2 to rotate the rotor and caliper every 20 min or so.

I've seen a few sets of rear rotors ruined because of the parking brake at the track. I always leave it in first. If I can, I try to back the car up to the trailer ramp and use that as a wheel chock too.

What is making contact with the rear rotor, vice the parking brake drum?

Correct. The shoes inside the drum on the rear rotor make contact. It slightly warps everything and gives you a shutter.

I usually dont use my brakes after I roll off the track then I stop and push it a few feet.

Do they have a cool down lap after a track day session? Also, lots of hills in the Road Atlanta paddock.

When I raced I'd use 1st until the car cooled down, then I'd switch to a chock when warming up the engine before the next session. Race cars typically don't have emergency brakes.

Thanks honeybadger. This pretty much answers my question. Continue using a chock it is! Thanks everyone!
