Not sure if I'm being OCD or not. I bought my car in April (second owner) and I know the previous owner. He got possession of the car with around 700 kms. on it from a dealer in another province (I'm in Canada). No claims or history showing any body damage from day one. I did a super good clean up job before parking it for the winter and have noticed little imperfections in the paint, mostly look like little divots or specs either under the paint or clear coat. Is it possible that this is direct from factory, or did the dealer do some paint work on a new vehicle and not disclose the info? Is it common for factory paint to come with blemishes? Thanks.

I can't comment on how common the factory paint has imperfections.
But it's not uncommon for the factory to repair damage before cars get to a dealer. Nor is it uncommon for a dealer to repair damage if it happens.
As far as I know neither Ford nor the dealer is under any obligation to report any damage or repairs if it's done before the initial sale.

If the vehicle in your profile is correct (2015), the Ford Paint Warranty is only 5yr/60k. Most likely any "manufacturing defect" is beyond the Ford Paint & Corrosion coverage period at this stage, so any repair would unfortunately be out of pocket expense.

I'm just including the below for future reference for others asking about paint defects.

Attached is Ford Warrantable vs Non-Warrantable paint guide. The Ford paint is covered under the 5/60 Paint And Corrosion Warranty outlined in your Mustang Owner's Manual. It does not protect against damages such as rock chips or other, only workmanship and corrosion.

I took delivery with 67 miles. the paint had drips, runs and errors. If you don't know that reference, look up Johnny Bench.

Thanks for the replies. If others have the small defects, that makes sense that it may be direct from factory. My concern was that it may have been in an accident before delivery from the dealer and not disclosed. Where I live, any damage over $5k has to be disclosed upon purchase. This was my reason for the question. All good, I’ll just try and not see them.
