My 2019 GT just had a Roush Phase 2 supercharger installed by a Ford dealer and I picked the car up today. Driving it home (not spirited), I got a message saying the car was overheating and it went into limp mode. I was in a horrible spot traffic-safety wise but drove in limp mode for about 20-30 seconds to get to a shoulder, pulled over, and shut off the engine. Cylinder head temp was 256 when I pulled it up after shutting the car off.

The car was obviously leaking coolant.

I got it towed to the dealer.

The dealer says the immediate cause was the top radiator hose clamp failed. They're looking at the car to see if anything else is going on.

My question is how likely is this to have caused subtle (or not so subtle) damage to the engine? Head gasket, heads, possible damage due to loss of lubrication, etc? I'm worried the dealer is going to pronounce it good and it's going to go to shit on me 3 weeks from now. Any things I should ask them to check?

Small chance of head gasket issues, but unlikely since the car entered limp mode. I wouldn't worry too much.

Assuming they don't do anything to the engine other than replace the clamp and re-fill the coolant, what do I have to keep an eye out for that might be head gasket issues?

Burning coolant would be the biggest sign. You'll probably get misfires as well.

The problem is not going to be in 3 weeks, but maybe down the line. It might be a futile attempt, but I'd push dealer for an extended powertrain warranty. If denied, at least you'd be covered until the 5/60 time is over. Good luck.

The normal operating temp of my BMW is 250. I wouldn't sweat it!
