They'll look at the modifications done to the car and take that all into account. I have no doubt that they will try to get out of any warranty repair that they can. Unless they have proof that you raced the car or neglected it.

Right they would, but they can't say that because you have coilovers for example that it means you were racing and thus deny your warranty for the engine. Also just because you have "racing" type of modifications doesn't mean you were actually racing. People put on big wings, splitters etc. for cars that never see a track.

I'm just curious how they would be able to prove you were "competitively" racing, and be able to do so without you as the owner being able to scrub said evidence.

At the end of the day, it comes down to if having the warranty, and the fact that it's a brand new engine that you're dropping in is worth the extra money. Yes, you might not get a new engine free and clear if it goes bang, but more than likely you'll get something. Also, you have piece of mind that it's going to crank and run with no issues when it goes in. To me it was worth the extra 1500-1800 bucks it was going to end up costing to just get one from Ford. Saves me the hassle of scouring the internet for the best deal and or looking for a block here, a head there, and camshafts here, all in unknown conditions and with no recourse. Then the extra time and parts in assembly and machine shop time if I had to put one together. Reputable used stuff (LKQ) was 5500-6k plus tax which to me is a pass. Fraser wanted I think 7500 plus 600 to ship a reman one to me.

Looks like you made the right choice. Be sure and keep us S550 folks updated on your experiences with the fresh build. I'm in the same boat, gotta have some sort of warranty or recourse. Good luck!

The engine arrived in record time, I just went and picked it up this morning around 11 am. The dealership recorded the serial number and attached it to my car's VIN for warranty. It is the correct GEN 2 Coyote engine and comes pretty well-loaded with everything you need. All new sensors and water pump, thermostat, and housing. You'll just be needing to swap over your intake manifold, wiring harness, and accessories to get it up and running. I'll post some pictures when I get home from work.
