You have all been asking and we have finally been able to test the new @Ford Performance Gen 2 Cobra Jet Intake Manifold on our in-house dyno versus the Gen 1. We tried it on our 2022 Mach-1 test vehicle and compared it with a stock 2021 Mustang GT. Thanks to @Lund Racing, we got a solid tune and eliminated as many variables as possible when testing. The tests with each manifold were all done on the same day as well. Check out the results and let us know what you think!

$3200 for <10hp gain doesn't seem to make much sense for a Mach1 owner.

At the same time, it shows that a GT owner can get within 10hp of the CJ setup for less than half the cost by going with the GT350 OEM stuff.

Some fancy intake designs do have good potential even if they are more complicated, an example is the intake of the porsche 911 gt3.

Is there anything extraordinary special about the gen1 / 2 cobra jet intake that would cause it to make a huge impact but somehow does in fact not ?

I knew the new CJ was a dud, no idea why ford didn’t at least make it larger volume.
Why would you think it's a dud?

Looks like it was redesigned to fit under the S550 hood and it does what the CJ was designed to do, Rev out past 8K.

Steeda shoulda ran that out to where the power falls off the cliff.

It doesn’t do anything new other than look different. If you want a max effort N/A coyote (for some reason) it doesn’t make sense to spend more on the gen 2 cj. Ford had an opportunity to re-engineer this plenum, but instead they replaced a large opening with 2 smaller ones.

Obviously it needs bigger cams to make big boy power. That also goes for the previous CJ as well.

Looks like a pretty damn good intake to me. Flat HP from 6250 to 8000.

Makes more power than the gen 1 from 3250 to 8000.

Some ported heads and bigger cams will make this surprise some lower tier FI setups.

I do not buy a gen 3 only making 377whp though. Hell my 15 made 386whp and my 21 would blow my 15 out of the water stock for stock

They did chop off the balls on the stock cars. Probably a stingy dyno, all the numbers looked to be soft.

The CJ has proven itself to be the best coyote manifold. The Gen 2 looks like it will fit under the hood of a 15 to 17 GT. Hopefully the 18 up also. I wonder how it will respond to a centri?
