I am sure most of you are sick of hearing me whining about the car that has vanished. I understand. Just wanted to throw a question out there. I am paying under MSRP for my car. Does anyone out there think I have any ground to stand on by attempting to negotiate a further break/discount on the price of the car seeing I have been waiting since 3/11? I would think seeing I am a loyal Ford customer (purchasing well over 25 cars from this dealership over the last 20 years), they would have to throw me something when and if this car ever gets here. I know there are dealers still with 2018's on their lots, but I guess I am just soliciting some advice or opinions.

Show up in one of your patrol cars and tell them what your new MSRP is going to be... leave the lights and siren on the whole time.
Talk to the sales manager as though you just pulled him over for 35 over in a car with a "bad cop, no donut" bumpersticker, DUI, and a current oustanding warrant for assult on a police officer.

I know it's "ford" in general... but the dealer doesn't have much control on when you will get it, so to me it seems not right to expect them to compensate you for it... I presume they didn't give you any "it will definitely be delivered to you no later then X date" right?

I negotiate for a living, and believe there is ALWAYS room for negotiation. If the dealer believes you will actually cancel your order (I assume there is no fee to do so) and go buy one on a lot somewhere you’ve found, it’s likely worth more to them to lose a little on the deal versus having to start the process anew if you walk. If you go to the dealer with just a sad tale about how you’re tired of waiting and want a break for your mental anguish, you prob wont get anywhere. But, if you convince them it’s cut you a deal or the entire deal is off, you may get a further discount. The key there is what will you accept vs what they can offer. They’ll likely get MSRP or close if you walk and they have to sell it to someone else. So, getting a monetary discount is prob not as likely as, say extra ford pass points for maintenance or parts. Be creative in your deal making, and consider the needs of the dealer, and I think you’re in a good place to at least get some concession, given the amount of time you have waited for your car.

Jason,

Good point. It is not the dealer. I know it is Ford. I am just wondering if Ford has any clue about the frustration level some of us have endured here. No, never given a hard date for delivery. Thanks!

Ok, so my dealer has K0054 in race red black roof carbon dash & comfy sofa seats. Doesn't have handling option. So that's stripe & handling pkg cost difference from what you (and I) ordered...and its red of course. My dealer sounds like he'd like to see that get sold (I can hook anyone up with the GM's name & number).

So, what? So what if you suggested you might drive an hour & change north for that (I'll meet you) and see if your guys will entice you to stay in the order and at a more competitive price than MSRP? My deal is $1500 below MSRP for comparison & negotiation purposes. We ordered the SAME exact car.
Not as the lead point but as a most relevant reason you're looking around at alternatives make a big deal out of not only is your order ridiculously late, and now overlaps model 2020 order-banks open, but its also on an UNDEFINED status & schedule. Tell them to get the regional mgr involved. There's no way in hell what is going on is a secret or the reasons need to be kept from you.

Want me to ask my dealer GM is yours is at the same little conference they're at now? And have him prod them?

I want to get yours as ordered...in part because we've become friends but also selfishly because then we get to compare notes and do photo shoots! LOL.i'll say it again - I ordered in December and am just getting the car Friday - that's waiting.
Hang in there bud - and Iike Dave's idea - No code7, stay on patrol - See a man, reported lost Kona cobra, handle Code 3.
(I watch a lot of Adam-12 still ;-)

You average purchasing more than one car a year from the same dealership for 20 years??? That's pretty impressive! Yea, I might expect a little something for that. I've seen my dad get great service for buying 2-3 new cars from the same guy over a 10+ year period.

If it makes you feel any better I ordered my 2018 Rubicon the day dealers could enter in the option for the power top, which is what I was holding out for. That was beginning of June last year. After going back and forth with a corporate rep, and the regional rep talking to my dealer manager during the delays in bringing the top to production, and then another couple weeks for the factory to do a custom leather option, I received the Jeep 6 months after I ordered it. Again, this was for a Jeep. Then when it arrived at the dealer, I was told the title hadn’t arrived with it. So I waited another 3 days on top of the 1 month I was daily driving a rental car out of pocket. The dealership manager tells me the regional rep will work something out for my troubles of the half year delay. He calls back a month later, saying “so the regional rep is hooking you up with two free oil changes!”
Long pause on my end before I just said “wow, thanks.” After half a year I was done.

Mark - Are they holding any of your money? I only ask because I had $2000 down and then an 11-week waiting (Off Site) period hit and I was DONE! But they refused to refund my money and I couldn't take a $2000 hit.

I had a deal in Iowa at $500 over INVOICE and a deal in South Dakota at $500 UNDER invoice! They are making thousands of dollars at MSRP - they are making nearly $2000 if they sell at invoice.

This deal might still be available - a 2020 at invoice MINUS holdback! Incredible! https://www.mustang6g.com/forums/th...ts-read-first-post.61277/page-97#post-2636140

You're going to enjoy your "new" 2019 for about a month before the 2020's hit the road. Also, they're only making (2800) 2020's, (1960) GT350's and (840) R's, and that's pretty cool!

If they can't give you some solid answers about your car, and you're not going to lose any money, I would demand a better deal or walk. There are plenty of great deals out there.

Here's a Kona Blue with White Stripes in Tennessee for $60K - https://www.cars.com/vehicledetail/detail/776139776/overview/

Hey Randy,

Thanks for the info. No money was given as a deposit. I am paying considerably under MSRP and I am sure they are making good money on the sale. I just wish Ford wouldn't be so secretive with what is going on with this car. As each day goes by, I can't help but to think something happened to this car during the production phase. I really appreciate the info and support.

So true! There's Ford Performance and then there's FRAP - worlds apart! It's like FP wants to help you but they can't pry any information out of the factory. I'm sure your dealer is in the same position.

I had the same doubts about mine when it mysteriously disappeared for months! Gotta be something wrong with it! What date was yours produced again?

My build date was 8/6.
So basically two weeks ago. Are you still tracking it? I'll bet any day it changes to "Released - Awaiting Shipment"! Then things will really start moving! You and Bill will be scheduling "Twins" photo shoots before you know it!
