Having only recently taken over the position of Chairman and Managing Director of Ford of Britain I have only just been alerted to this forum.

Please feel free to contact me directly on [email protected] individually, and I will ensure that we provide each of you with the very latest data on your order.

I am hugely appreciative of your patience

A very generous offer Mr Barratt and I am sure plenty of people will take you up on the offer. However, I am sure you are a busy man and we all wish you every success in your position. Perhaps we could cut down the number of emails if you could give us a generic answer to the one big question - when are our cars arriving?

We assume they are all getting built around the same time and understand the economics of the mass shipping etc so an open honest answer is all we are looking for not more PR stuff.

If no one knows just say we don't know - and give us a reason. The biggest pain is lack of information both from Ford and our Ford dealers.

So far Ford have not failed to deliver as nothing was promised until mid November but people are anxious about the lack of information so a wee bit of reassurance that things are on schedule (or not) would go along way to ease the pain of the wait.

We are all desperate to get our hands on these amazing cars so trust that you can understand our angst.

By the way I paid my deposit in January so hopefully my Ecoboost is going to be on the boat before Christmas!

Thanks Andy, very much appreciated. You will see there's a lot of frustration in this forum. If I summerise the worst gripes;
Dealers seemingly have no information outside of vista (in fact my dealer phones me for information as there's more on this forum than he had access to). That's an unacceptable situation.
Nobody knows why the cars are constantly being delayed.
The UCL cars seem to have dissolved to nothing more than another order.
Nobody including the dealers really seem to care that the Mustang is /should be a "halo" product for Ford in the UK, we're all paying at least £30,000 for a car nobody has even seen in RHD format yet. The feeling is you don't don't need to put any effort into this because the car effectively sells itself & you're not going to cancel an order given the waiting list now.

I spent 45 minutes on the phone to Stephanie from the priority team on Friday and came away with nothing.

You personally signing up on here gives us a glimmer hope though as you obviously do care, applaud you for that.

Thanks very much Andy. I'm sure I'm not the only future Mustang driver who appreciates the chance to get some information 'straight from the top'.

Thank you, Andy, for getting in touch with us customers directly. It's reassuring knowing that someone "from the top" feels the need to step in and get their hands dirty on the matter.

Essentially, it all boils down to one big question: Where is the product? If you can even partly answer that, I think we'd all be much happier.

Another gripe that user Big_G has touched upon is that we don't feel at all like special customers. I'm not saying we should have the full advertising budget thrown at the Mustang (far from it, given your waiting lists), but better training may be needed for your dealer network and customer service because, as shown by many others on this forum, barely anyone seems to care or even know what the Mustang is, despite it being THE Ford car, and (if my maths is correct) the most expensive passenger car Ford currently sell in the UK.

There is barely any song-and-dance around a £34,000 exotic Coupé, and its a bit of a sting when a £22,000 Mondeo will receive more enthusiasm.

I have already sent my email, and I await your response.

Again, thank you.

-Ben

Mr Barratt, can I start by saying how impressed I am with your willingness to get on this forum - few would be quite that shrewd I suspect.

Secondly, can I recommend that if you have the time, read through some of the other threads – particularly the posts around January and February where you will see palpable excitement about the arrival of the Mustang. It’ll give you a “feel good” factor and perhaps encourage you to see us as something other than a bunch of moaning customers.

Thirdly, the main thing I would like to know is what it is we won’t be getting compared with the US specification car. Ford UK recently wrote to us telling us we were losing a little horse power because of an exhaust issue caused by the right hand drive which was encouraging that we were being told about such a small detail. However, there are rumours of other deletions such as
a) hood vents
b) tower strut brace; and
c) “gill” daytime running lights

all of which are a little hard to understand if they are true. Hood vents are common place amongst other sports cars sold in the UK and I cannot find anything to suggest that a tower strut brace is illegal. Deletion of these features, particularly the last two will detract from the performance and appearance of the car and seems therefore to run contrary to the Ford vision of a global vehicle. In addition, if we as consumers try to restore these features, its going to involve a considerable amount of expense in terms of buying parts, shipping, fitting and then of course insurance for the modification that will have to be declared.

That being so, if there are deletions beyond the loss of horsepower, then it will be helpful to know what they are and what the catalyst for the deletion is. If the only catalyst is price, then it will be good to know if there might be opportunity to remedy that straight from the factory with a suitable payment of course.

Finally, sincere thanks for getting involved which is greatly appreciated.

Let's remember what George Bernard Shaw said, " The biggest single problem with COMMUNICATION is the ILLUSION that it has taken place." Wake up Ford, you're upseting customers because of your reticence to communicate.

Congratulations on having the business acumen and the interest to get involved.
I suggest that you recommend to your Oz and NZ counterparts that they do the same just in case they are operating under an illusion that their marketing depts. and dealer networks are doing a great job
The only person in the whole of Ford who has tried to avoid this complete marketing fiasco outside the US home market is Deysha in Customer Service and one day when a Mustang Hall of Fame is created, she deserves to be there alongside Lee Iaccoca and Dave Pericak
Best of luck

That should be the next few DAYS!!

Echo the thoughts above, my situation is slightly different, I can wait for my delivery, next August.

However, additional information on why we are being short changed on spec compared to the U.S. Emissions etc, I understand, but tri bar LED's, bliss, adaptive cruise, rear lights being white!?!?

Please shed some light on that.

From my lurking around the EU subforum, we determined as a bunch of "experts" that the tribar is located in such a way that it lights sort of 180 degs, not just in the front and it can annoy cars coming from the side.
Rear lights because some countries do not allow red color, even though the X5 has almost red signal turns but whatever.
No sequential because it's illegal in the EU, though the new A8 HAS seq signals lights.
Bliss I have no idea.
AC I have no idea, could be "different" in the US.

My opinion is that Ford came to the EU gathering and said "we want to launch a car that can compete with your 80k Euro BMW and Audis, but the price is 30-40k."
The big EU threes took a lightning fast decision "we'll let you, but you have to fuck up the car, make it unamerican so people will still buy our VW and overpriced BMWs".

Ford had to make a decision.

In other news, I eagerly wait for your cars because UK is the biggest Ford parts importer and tuner and everything. Look at Focus ST/RS. So I want to order from UK , not US.
Also after 6 months of waiting, here's my car :D Good luck having a more competent QC person and unloading people.
That's my intercooler and the scratches on a very dusty and full of spider's web car left in the sun, OUTSIDE the gates so everybody can look at it and touch it and ruin it for me. Hurray for dealers. I started taking Goosfraba classes after this...
