WOW! That speaks volumes. I was sort of wondering if the issue is caused by those who are more extreme in their use of the car. I only have heard of one that failed without being thrashed and he is on this forum - I have to wonder if THAT was a coincidence. So I called Roush. They do not upgrade gears or sprocket on their stage 3 cars. Never have had a reported failure either.
There might be some good reasons for that also. The Roush cars probably don't get beat on as hard as us regular GT owners so less chance of failure.
I will add that the customer service tech did say that in his own personal build he put the billet gears and crank sprocket in.
Hey @bigfoot21075, generally owners will redo their oil pump gears and crank sprocket with billet replacements after they go forced induction. If you're staying NA for a bit I wouldn't be too worried about doing them, but it's never a bad idea if you have some spare time to do them.I occasionally see the mention of the Coyote Oil Pump gears failing
Lol.You guys know that this thread died 7 years ago, right?
Lol.
you’re correct but it’s still a relevant and frequently asked and debated topic today as it was 7 years ago.

Just noticed that lol. Until I can make it 20 miles without overheating, this question will be asked.
Mr Bigfoot was last seen here in 2020, So unlikely to respond.
If boosted, Out of those 3 which brand would you go with?If boosting. Not a bad idea
We have the mmr. Tss and Boundary available. If staying na. I wouldn't worry

same here, phase 2 blowerI have the roush phase 2 kit and I don’t think I’ve seen the RPMs exceed 7k. Now admittedly I’m not driving staring at my dash but I have noticed it doesn’t like to go to redline (7500). Before the Install I can say that sport plus would hit redline during wot In stock config. I have no idea what the roush tune actually limits.
however since they work so closely with Ford it would
stand to reason that if their kit was causing opg failures during their “17 million wot tests” they claim to have performed during development then they would include it.
that being said, when my warranty is up I plan on further modding out the car and a custom tune so I’ll be looking to do the opg at that point. Insurance after my warranty expires.
Thanks for reply. Got a 21 GT w Phase 2 Set up via Roush. Still under warranty, but when it ends wanna get a more aggressive tune. Roush stock tune is super conservative. Those gears are on my mind, ya know. Whatta are your thoughts?https://www.beefcakeracing.com/boundary-opgcombo-blk/
I run the boundary black on my personal car with the chambers but I’m really getting after the RPMs close to 8500
If you’re not killing the RPMs, the standard boundary is what we run

personally, I like to believe that Roush engineers are competent and well aware of the oil pump gear situation. After all their warranty covers it for three years or 36,000 miles. It is not a cheap repair thus they would not want to pay for it if it was breaking down in all their custom jobs and kits that are sold. they probably sell a lot of kits since it takes several weeks to order one.same here, phase 2 blower

I think for me, this kit was the best option, and I’m very happy with the power that it puts out even with the conservative tune that comes with it. When my warranty expires, I will be looking to see if a tuner can smooth out the sport and sport plus modes for shifting.
The dealer told me that since it is warranty friendly, it would not cancel any Ford warranties. However, he did add in the caveat that if a failure was deemed to be owing to the supercharger, and that the Roush warranty had ended, then they would not cover it. I suppose that is aligned with most manufacturers that say, if you install something aftermarket, it will not void your warranty unless it causes a problem. Catch 22.Hey Pete,
Same here, Bro. I think that is why our current roush tune is conservative, so not to break oil pump gears and break other stuff. lol Im looking to do the same thing when warranty ends, the trans shifts super hard in Sport+ and also Track modes. They will break your neck...... I need them smoothed out as well. I also want a little more up in the RPM end...
Hey, when our Roush warranty ends 3/36000 miles, don't we still have the FORD 5/60,000 power train coverage??
Thanks Anthony
Damnnnnnnnnnnnn, So we are screwed then. What if we buy the ford esp warranty? or can we buy.......... therefore in theory covering entire powertrain and car.The dealer told me that since it is warranty friendly, it would not cancel any Ford warranties.
