Hello everyone, I would like to start going to the track more frequently without worrying about overheating problems, but the last few times I went, the oil temp gauge gets to yellow and even red really quickly. My coolant temps are staying cool, only my oil is becoming a problem. As far as I know, the previous owner tuned my car, but I am unsure what type of tune it is. I stay under 6500 rpm and still am having problems. Any suggestions; oil coolers, hood vents etc.?

Oil cooler for oil temps. Open grill, radiator and hood vent for overall engine cooling.

Start in that order and re-evaluate the situation after each upgrade then see if you need to go to the next one.

Any idea of the car's mod list? What oil are you using?

It has exhaust work and a tune. The only thing I know about either one is that the catback is a corsa. I use full synthetic 5w30.

I use 5w40 on my Mach 1. Granted, I have a factory oil cooler, but I think 5w40 or even 5w50 would help. I'd try that before dropping $$$ on vents and coolers. Those are great options, and some I recommend, but I'd try the least expensive version first.

I do daily drive the mustang still, and probably wouldn’t wanna run a different oil if I only go to the track a few times per year. I don’t really mind investing some money on parts to make my car more reliable because I’ll probably just run into the issue again later

After adding my oil cooler, I run 0W-40 on track. I would rather see you run this daily than run 5W-30 on track. If you go on track before adding a cooler, then use 40wt or even 50wt.
