Anytime you remove the plug, whether you reuse it or replace the O-ring or replace the entire plug, you should coat the plug and the inner liner with silicone grease. Even a new ring will not seal if there’s any kind of damage or scratches on the ID of the bore, be careful of that .
This is great advice. Of course someone out there is going to read this and slather on some "silicone seal" instead of "silicone grease".

Probably could just run finger around o-ring with a bit of oil just like you do the cartridge type oil filter and be fine. Make sure groove o-ring goes in is wiped out clean and snug plug up within reason tight.

My car had a tiny bit of sweepage in that area since first oil change. Its very very small. Nothing ever on garage floor but if I take a towel and wipe it, go for a drive, when I come back it wont be dry.

And I always use a brand new oil plug each change (6 total now).

Thank you, just bought 6 for under $20 delivered
I just ordered 6 off Ebay for under $17 delivered. I checked out Tasca and with shipping they over cost was more. Free shipping is hard to beat...not sure how they can do that...

I have one on my Lightning which works great - but as noted above, it wouldn't work on the GT350 pan. Maybe if there is some interest shown Fumoto might tool up for one.
The same drain plug we use with the 5.2L is also used on the 2.7L motor so maybe economies of scale would be there for Fumoto to bring one to market?

Thanks for the Tasca low cost lead! Just bought a few and a few belly pan screws. (Broke one).
