Byers Ford finally called me back, after 2 messages. This is their final statement concerning the issue. Regardless of where my change was done, there is no implied Ford warranty for service. Each dealership is independent and they will not support or otherwise compensate me for the loose filter. A loose filter is not a warranty issue and regardless of the known issues with this car and vibration they will only provide a 48 dollar credit for the labor difference had I had a oil change done.

So for you guys doing the oil change at the dealer, why bother. You can get better oil, and make sure the filter it torqued yourself. There isn't really any reason to have any dealer work on your car unless your building a maintenance scrapbook for resell or you just like spending too much for cheap oil and paying 200 percent for filters.
That blows man, but the other guys are right. If you want it done right, you need to do it yourself. It would have a far better customer interaction for them to say "Yes, they messed up, but we made good on it." However, they would be accepting liability with that statement.

Although I would agree that this seems to be the fault of the dealer that conducted the last oil change I wonder if this dealer would be willing to pay for this new bill you received in order to correct the problem?

In my book they seem to have made the error when installing the filter which led to this whole problem so they are liable for any costs to rectify.

I hope you can get your money back on this one and I am glad the car survived the whole ordeal!

Maybe, but it went 2800 before it loosened. Was it torqued, I will never know. What is the point however behind a national brand if each independent dealership may be rather arbitrary and agnostic to the quality of ownership afforded to customers. The customer should not get placed in a back in forth with 2 dealers over 120 dollars. That's 120 billed, actual cost to the dealer is much less. I can remember back in the days where dealerships were not so self serving. Maybe I was spoiled in better markets like Montana however Ohio has been rather horrible in every instance that I have seen thus far with Ford. If I wasn't a fan of the brand I would just say F-it and never buy another one. Maybe that is the way to go. Looking to trade in my F150, Before Chevy wasn't even a consideration, now I will be looking there first.

And the process has run its course. Ford Service basically cant make a dealer do anything.

Thank you for the update, Kristopher. As your dealership mentioned, they are independently owned and operated. Therefore, if this is how they choose to address your situation that will be the final say. I have ensured to document this for you for future reference. Have a good one!

Well there is some good news. I was eventually able to get through to the service manager in Morgantown WV. He was quite embarrassed a fellow dealer charged 60 bucks to clean a plastic pan, and surprised they would quibble over a filter and 2 quarts of oil for a customer with a GT350. He is cutting a check for 120 and sending it to my home.

I guess there is some hope for dealers that give a shit.

The dealer with a great attitude was Freedom Ford.
