After 7000 miles my worst fears have come true - my cars stuck in the shop.

Pretty quick drip of oil when the engine is warm, dealer has no idea where it's coming from yet.

I've heard oil leaks are a common issue - anyone have some wisdom for me?

Where is the drip seen ? Front / back / front or rear left side / front or rear right side ?

A little further forward than the front tire, right-center

Catch cans (if you have) or cam cover bolts are loose would be my guess.

Hopefully your oil filter wasn't put on loosely. That would be the most general issue I would imagine a newer car like yours to have. Please keep us updated on what the cause of the problem is.

Update: It's the transmission cooler. Car will be in the shop another week at least. No loaner either which really sucks - rental for this period is running into the thousands.

Edit: they are replacing the entire cooler which has a week lead time

What? The least they could do is loan you a car come on.

You need to call the Ford 800# and start a Case regarding the loaner issue.

Ford should be providing a Customer a vehicle loaner if they are the original owner of the vehicle up to 5yr/60k and if the car is to remain at the Service Center for more than 48hr for warranty repairs. If the loaner is needed longer than 4 days, they also can put in an extension via their internal Ford FMC360 Warranty form. Tell your Dealership to reference the Ford Warranty and Policy Manual (SECTION 6 – FORD/LINCOLN PROGRAM POLICIES SECTION FORD IN-WARRANTY LOANER PROGRAM) and get their heads out of their asses. Tell them every Franchise has access to it via Ford OASIS and other internal channels.

Not the original owner, unfortunately. Will look into this material though, thanks for the info.

Should be right on the housing that your filter mounts too. They have been reported as backing out as well as leaking before.

Mine actually failed very early on. Car goes to limp mode when pressure is unstable or low.
