all thats missing is something to mount it with... shop wisely at home depot and it can be mounted for pennies
These aren't the best quality parts but just showing the price difference.
I wouldn't cheap out on AN fittings, we are talking about your engine's oil here. Cheaper fittings like the ones you posted like to crack around the hose socket part.

We use and carry Squirrelly fittings, couplers, clamps, tubing in house and its all pretty damn affordable and created in the USA.

www.squirrelly.com

Go ahead and run the cheaper cooler if you like, but its worth the few extra quarters to get quality fittings!

I also recommend a thermostatic oil sandwich adapter instead of one that is open 100% of the time.

I would run far away from all of those eBay parts listed.

Like Adam said this is your engine oil, the last thing you want is one of these fittings failing.

Im pretty sure i noted that these parts weren't of the best quality. How important is a thermostatic sandwich? I can see how it would aid in engine warm up but is their any other benefits or could you just monitor temps till oil reaches the desired pressure/temp and be gucci.

Yeah, ever clean up 5 quarts of slightly or well used engine oil out of the belly pan of a vehicle and the garage floor...

A f'ing mess...

Never mind the potential engine damage, who wants to clean up that sh*t show...

This was another factor i took into consideration when deciding an oil cooler wasn't necessary for a non-autocross vehicle. Just another thing that could potentially go wrong. One more fitting, clamp, hose, etc to fail and create more hurt than it ever would have helped.

You can really build your own oil cooler. I can get you a thermostatic oil filter adapter, and sell you all the fittings and lines to run a Setrab oil cooler. Setrab is the highest quality oil cooler on the market!
well...sounds like you could just go ahead and sell some kits ready to go for us :)

The mishimoto is definitely on the short list for me (as soon as i finally get my stuff MAP) because even if you dont track it it does wonders for the longevity of your engine. Specially turbo cars.

How bout transmission oil temps? Anyone worry about that? It seems to go higher than what id like on track days, according to the cars own gauge, is there anything that can be done?

Not needed for a daily driver.

Unless your road racing in 100F heat you won't need one.

I would put a larger trans cooler before adding a fan since the cooler sits in between the AC condenser and radiator.

I see so many posts with people trying to talk people out of reliability mods with statements like this. I autocross and do trackdays in Phoenix, haha. It always sounds so silly to me. Are autocrosses and 100 deg temps really so rare?

When I started the thread it was to see if there were alternatives to the only full kit available not if you think the car needs it. What i think & what someone deems necessary is always gonna be different

So can a larger trans cooler be diy'd? I know my way around a wrench a fair bit, and on track days 215+temps worry me

Cooling mods are no brainers, it doesnt matter if you track it or not, there is a big difference when you crack open an engine after 60k+ miles, things look waay better
