I have added this part to my amazon list, if you get the chance to try it please post your results. Then I’ll buy two, one to install and one to shove up the rear end of the engineer that wants me to spend $300 on a pedal to get it.
Check the stop light switch... when it starts to go it causes start/stop issues when parked as well as throttle response issues at speed.
It will not throw a code, but it may flash that hill start/stop not available on the middle of gauge package. It’s a 21$ part and changes in 10 minutes.
Yes it is, because the pedal bracket is 1/8 inch from the end. And the pedal is concave in nature where the pin exits the pedal which that diagram shows the easy opposite side.
It would work and actually considered it. However, the original pad was very brittle from the FL heat. Those pads would glue on or peel and stick.
I was worried about it the adhesive failing while I was driving and being in the same boat.
What I need is a 3D printer and copy the original...
Yeah, it feels that way on the automatics, I’ve seen F150 videos about removal and you can put a 11mm socket on the end. But there is no access to the side where the pins need to be depressed.
So the stop light switch has a plunger on it and it installs into the plastic bracket that encases the entire brake pedal assembly.
On the brake pedal arm itself there is an L shaped bracket that a plastic circular disk that has a 1/4 shank that clips into to. This provides a contact patch for...
Update:
The aftermarket brake pedal stop pad's found in the Dorman section of Advanced/O'Reilly's/etc. do not fit. I am having to result to the zip tie trick...
Also, I believe the pad broke but also the stop light switch itself was failed. I drove the car with the OEM switch and same result...
Ok... so I am trying to fix this god awful design of a brake switch pedal pad.
Who has figured how to remove the blue pin for the power brake booster actuator with the plastic guard in the way, tight tolerances and horrible design?
I'd love to know...
To replace that .05 cent piece of plastic...
I made the filing this morning.
I am also reaching out to Ford Service about this, HUGE safety issue, and just terrible engineering of this part.
Update: Ford does not sell a brake light switch stop pad. It is part of the entire brake assembly and the dealer wanted over 200$ for the part...
Hey all,
Had an issue where my 2015 EB Premium seemed to be in limp mode, but no icon on the dash. Car would only accelerate to 40-50mph and wouldn't throw any codes.
Saw some other threads in regards to the stop light switch, but there are 2 pieces to the stop light switch. There is the...
Oh yeah... warranty work, they did a variety of gaskets when mine was done. My issue appeared 6 months into ownership. Car was built in Dec. 2014, I bought May of 2015 and it was done in Oct. of 2015
Just took it for a 10 miles drive to work on a 1/4 tank. Seemed much smoother pickup and idle at stop lights. Gas mileage went up .3 in 10 miles.
Also, it shuts down easier, when I turn it off when parked it’s a smooth stop of idle. It seemed to stumble and then shut down before.
The sensor at the bottom (BA) is the factory sensor:
The blue O-ring didn't come on the new sensor so I had to move it over, you can definitely tell some exterior design changes.
Here is the picture of the sensor itself:
You can see the vent hole that's mentioned before, and you can see...
I'm all about doing something different, I would of loved a Galaxy or Fairlane revival as a 4 door "Mustang" rather than adding another 2 doors to our 60 year old coupes.
