Some guy was showing some cheap $80 options at an Orieleys parts store I believeAnyone know of any Oil Coolers other than the Mishimoto? $500 is a steep price for an oil cooler...I suppose I could just use a generic unit, but it would be nice to have the temp control shut off valve for quicker warm ups.
^ Yes this ! My past 2 cars i ordered therostatic sandwhich plate from racerpartswholesale and -10 fittings along with push lock hose and made my own with setrab cooler. Does anyone know the correct thread pitch of oil filter housing off the top of their head? Thanks.
honestly, Unless your hitting crazy temps or curcuit racing i wouldnt do an oil cooler. In my opinion, 210-220 is prime. heck, i believe even chevy is now stating 240deg to be their prime oil temp. either way, cold oil (under 200F) is bad oil performance wise. Its extra load on every moving part it touches when its too thick. too hot though will just degrade quickly. Either way its your call but just trying to shed some light so you can do your own research to make your decision. to me its a waste of money but if you're going to do it anywayI will probably try and put one together when i get extra time. Should be able to make diy setup for under 300. The hardest part i see would be making some type of brackets to place it in front of radiator kind of how the mishimoto one sits.
Exactly. $500 for a quality oil cooler that's a direct fit and car specific is a very good price, imo.500 bones for an oil cooler isn't expensive
I think my Stett 135i oil cooler was like 1300
Stang parts are pretty cheap guys - you get what you pay for in most situations
