Purchased a 2021 GT 500 this may with 1400 miles. Had a service then with oil and filter and as of today it has 1950 miles.
Live in Ohio so it will not see any wet and snow on road so will until the spring. Plan on fresh oil and filter before storge.
Does this make sense or is it excessive given the low miles?

Just do it next may when you take her out of sleep, I did change mine but I had 8.000Km on the oil. Yours is like 700Km, it should be still transparent, there is not much of contamination into it.

Wash her, put a battery tender on the battery, pump the tires, clean the interior and call it a day.
Don't idle the engine, just leave her resting until you are ready for a good ride.

I've been in a like situation.

If the car is being driven in a way which leads to full warm-ups and non-short (must have smile on face 😁before returning) drives, you can wait until the Spring and change then. The car will be fine. You might see an advantage in changing now, to reset the Oil Change Monitor timeline.

Last season I received my car, then made break-in miles right before storage. I stowed the car until the Spring. In April this year, I changed the factory fill. Oil analysis was normal.

Before storing this year, I changed the oil again. It had 1250+ miles / 2000 km on the oil. I didn't need to and I wasn't concerned about keeping the same oil over the Winter. I did so to reset my change period.

It's much easier to predict the weather today than five months from now. We have California-like weather this time of year. Now, the Oil Change Monitor is shifting to the warmer months, sliding to the left. :sun: Previously, my oil change period, still sliding to the left, was moving into colder and colder (from April, back towards December), more unpredictable weather. 🥶

I would suggest changing the oil before storage to remove contaminants and most importantly any that could assist in helping the development of acids while stored.
One other item, and I don’t know if this applies to GT500’s, when you get ready to start after a long period of sitting push the throttle all the way to the floor and crank the engine to build oil pressure for 15-20 seconds or so. This will put oil in places that have become somewhat dry and help to reduce initial start up wear.
Perhaps some who are more knowledgeable can add model years that this works on. I use it whenever my car sits for 5 or more days to prelude.

Once per year or as the oil life I dictator dictates. If you change before storage, you are losing out on however many months it is in storage because the oil life monitor uses once per year or earlier based upon driving.

The fact of the matter is that oil beyond a year is fine. I have had oil analysis done that exceed a year and the oil life was just fine.

For warranty purposes, change it once a year minimum.

Better to change it in Spring. The oil will collect condensation/moisture all winter long and if you can wait that would be best.

I always change my oil and filter before I put it away for the winter. Once winter is over…..hop in it and go.
Agreed. Leaving the partially or completely used oil in the crankcase only increases the contaminants available to react with moisture and each other to produce even more harmful acids and compounds that can damage internals. Plus they are going to settle out as sludge. Put away your golf clubs, hunting equipment, or anything else that you don’t use over the winter months and it will usually be in worse condition than if it had been cleaned and lubricated.

Today’s oils can sit for 6 months and not sludge up at all. Some folks change their oil once a year due to time and not mileage have zero sludge issues. Letting a car sit with some mileage since the last oil change isn’t going to kill an engine.

We’re not talking about wintering the car for 20 years here….maybe 4-5 months at most.

Exactly, and this ain't old school dino juice we are using in the GT500.

That said, do what appeases your brain, you're the only one who will care.
