That all sounds reasonable but consider the possibility that the volume of lower models sold likely lowers the component price from suppliers on many of the parts shared with higher end models. I know that seems to make your case but what I'm saying is that there is likely more value in the volume of ecoboost sales than the actual profit from that line.
It is. The massive number of ecoboost sales will more than make up for the difference in profit margin. This is how it works in manufacturing. We make old PFI systems by the millions, and that is where the big money is made. Low profit margin per piece, but multimillion parts sold. Our high end products may have slightly higher margin, but the sales just can't touch the cheaper products.

I don't believe they would be so consumed with selling ecoboosts across all of their product line if the profit margins weren't better.
Profit margins may be better but the focus on Ecoboost is also due to CAFE regulations on their average MPG for all of their cars sold.

So basically it seems the PP2 package is nearly everything you get with a 350 sans the engine and a few other bits. The rim size is exactly what is on my GT350. With springs, spoilers, and mag ride, I will say now that the 18 PP2 will keep up with if not surpass the CURRENT 1LE. It will be interesting for sure.

For those who wanted the performance, there you have it.
LOVE THIS!!! I've been itching for some competition! Honestly I hope Goodyear Makes my OEM Supercar3 tires in 19" sizes in the future so you guys can have a slightly more durable tire without sacrificing performance. As an engineer who has a very strong allegiance to Michelin Products I'm well aware of the Cup 2's capability and I was shocked at how much I loved my Goodyears. My initial plan was to wear these out and get Pilot Super Sports for daily driving and Cup 2's for track work. The goodyears split the gap between those two perfectly and for nearly half the price of the Michelins.

I hope the owners of the Level 2 PP don't just ditch the Cup 2's for a much higher treadwear though. Can't wait to see some of these at the local AutoX's!

Goodyear really stepped up their game.

The G2s were surprisingly good on my buddy's 6th gen Camaro. They were a little slick when cold but they got up to temp well, spoke well, had pretty good grip, wore like iron and never really got greasy.

I can't imagine how good the 3s are.

Level 2 Build & Price?

I thought this Level 2 Performance Package (details well briefed) was to become available in December. It remains unavailable on the Build & Price function on Ford.com.

However, Truecar has the requisite info to build a level 2 on their site. What's up with that? Is anyone able to/have ordered a 2PP car?

Many people have orders in for a PP2. Just go to your dealer and order it.

funny how people were poo pooing on the price before
That's because a $2000 interior upgrade is required with the PP2, it's still not clear if that includes Recaros or not, and even if it does it's more $ for less content vs the 1LE package.

I already thought their were multiple people who have said they have ordered the PP2 on the base GT? And cloth Recaro's are a free option?

Truecar would confirm that the cloth Recaros are a free option to a 2PP ordered car.

Do you even understand the term cashcow? The cashcow of the Mustang line up would be the Ecoboost. As a whole with all things considered the Mustang line item is little more than a blip on the financials in comparison to the Ford pickup sales.
The GT350 is a cash cow for the dealers and Ford.

GT350's over the past few years have mostly sold at MSRP or significanly above it. Where many Ecoboosts and GTs are selling for well below MSRP and often close to invoice price, and then if its end of model year, Ford has to offer incentives.

Why I call the GT350 a cash cow:

FORD Profits:
So factor in 5000 GT350's and 500 GT350R's (per year) at LEAST $5k profit on a $60k vehicle at invoice with no rebates or holdbacks, etc. that's approx. $28 million for Ford. (Ford claims a global 8.7% profit margin)

DEALER Profits:
First, there's about a $3k price difference from Ford's dealer invoice price and MSRP.
Second, many R's probably sold $10-20k over MSRP, and most GT350's for $2k+... That's probably another $30+ million in dealers pockets.

So the GT350's probably add $60 million in PROFITS to Ford and its dealers.

Where most Ecoboost and GT's are sold at much lower prices (well below MSRP), and then Ford has to do "back door deals" (below invoice pricing), rebates, holdbacks, etc... it cost Ford a lot of money out of their profit margins.

So I would argue the GT350 line up probably makes almost as much profit as the Eco's and GT's put together. Think about they probably have to sell 10-20 regular mustangs to make as much profit as 1 GT350. So, 15 x 5,500 GT350s = 82,500 regular mustangs or almost a year's worth of sales.

The various order sheets I have seen conflict on if Recaros are included or not. But everyone I have seen for a non Premium has had the 301 package (extra $2k) along with the PP2 package. Which is consistent with it being required in a base GT to get the stand alone Magneride shock option.
