I know a lot of people have thrown the Ecoboost center dash gauge assembly into their cars for a quick & easy visual boost gauge, but is it even accurate?

Realistically this mod is for show, you need to datalog a real boost reference to know what's actually going on. Watching the boost gauge while doing a pull is a terrible idea. It also goes up to 30 psi, so the resolution you need for a 10ish psi supercharger setup isn't there.

I had one in my car, was not accurate. It said i was making 14psi on an 82mm pulley lol. I changed out the eco gauges for real boost and oil pressure gauges and they look and work awesome.

Damn, figured it was too good to be true. I wonder if there's a way to calibrate the signal, like a resistor in the line or something?

Well there is no boost or manifold pressure sensor. The PCM calculates how much boost it thinks its getting and thats what you see, only way to be accurate is with a real gauge.

Mine seems to work fine, shows 10-11psi which is about right for my setup.

It uses serial communication (digital signal) so a resistor won’t work.

Still need to verify, but I simply enabled the factory boost gauge in my cluster. Seems accurate to me, my Whipple kit states 9psi, it always seems to be right on for my location/altitude (around 8-8.5 psi). I need to hookup a gauge to verify, but never really got around to it as my dyno and track MPH agree with the boost/HP the Whipple kit stated. Being as the vacuum/boost reading is calculated/inferred, the accuracy of the reading is dependent on the tune as the values are calculated from MAF/RPM and some other criteria. I am using the Whipple tune which is known to be accurate.

I just leave this gauge up all the time.

So on the whipple tune that becomes an option to read in the center dash? Or is that already there stock?

It must be enabled in the IP As-Built Data using ForScan. There is a thread here on M6G that will detail how to do it.

Until it is enabled, all you will have is a Vacuum Gauge. Once you change the cluster setting, it will become a Vacuum/Boost gauge. However, as others have stated, unless your tune is setup properly as far as how it calculates load/airflow, it will be inaccurate, in which case if the tune runs great, than it would be much easier to just install an actual boost gauge.

Did you use a bracket to mount them

UPDATE:

I now have a real, mechanical boost gauge installed, and I can CONFIRM the in dash gauge pictured in my video is accurate.

This is on the Whipple Stage 1 kit/tune.

The factory gauge looks almost spot on with the mechanical gauge. Of course, the mechanical ones look sweet!!

I like load up and watch that factory boost/vacuum gauge in my cluster. VMP says my supercharger/pulley combo is good for max 10 pounds.
The gauge shows that as spot on.
