I have reason to believe my oil pump is going. I have posted about ticking and the loud valve train noises, today I noticed my oil pressure was lower than normal at idle, usually it's around 50, today it was closer to 25. Also heard some whirring noises today crusing around. Oil level is to the top dot, so I don't have low oil. Looked up signs of a failing oil pump, and every one of these symptoms were signs. Now my dillemna, do I just wait for the engine to go and get a new one, or do I bring it in and have the pump looked at after there could have already been damage from excessive wear to my engine?
25 is exactly where it should be. I'd be more curious about why it was so high at idle.

Took another video today, trying to find where the tick is coming from, which seems like underneath the car, I popped the hood, noticed the engine is very, very noisy. I had a 15 GT so I know there's valve train noise, but this sounds like a mack truck. Near the end of the video I get closer and you can really hear it. With the last couple engine failure threads, starting to get a bit nervous.

After listening again and again, my engine sounds similar to yours but not nearly as loud or maybe it's just the recording. I'm not concerned though about mine. I've beat the piss out of my car, I have 4700 miles on it (winter hibernation) and nothing's changed.

Injectors definitely make noise. If you were to isolate the sound they make, they'd almost sound like a rotating sprinkler head so definitely a tick tick tick.
Thanks for the info on the injectors. Is it something you can hear with the hood up just standing close to the car?

I know you can hear injectors and such, just saying it seems really, really loud. As far as I know I'm the only 350 in Spring Hill, I drive around every day and have yet to see another one, and only ran into another 350 owner a couple times at a car show or two months ago, so don't have anyone to compare it too.

Ah, maybe it was idling lower than 25, it was quite a few hours after it happened that I made this post, I just remember it was idling lower than normal. I'll have to watch it today.

Well I've had a tick noise ever since I bought my car it's gotten louder since I found out it was a exhaust leak from my passenger side manifold.

I was just at the dealer yelling at those fkrs and the serv mgr said there was a tsb for piston noise and that it was normal.

So if the piston skirts are too short and the piston smacks around that would give you a diesel noise aka tick. Ford my say its normal but my 2007 Lexus IS350 had the same thing and it turned out to be a class action and owners got some money sent to them for reduced engine life. Sure it probably won't go out during the warranty period but the flaw is affecting the engine life due to poor design and that was the basis for the award.

Did your tick get more rapid with throttle input? Mine only happens when warmed up, but I guess that would make sense since the manifolds could be expanding.

Scheduled a service appointment for Friday. A bit worried about it as the guy asked if the GT350 was a mustang and what kind of engine it had.

service advisors are never the smartest.. your master tech may be a good one.. the one at my dealership is a huge mustang fan (owns several) and its pretty much known that any time my mustang comes in only he looks at it.

I see you are close by. What dealership if you don't mind me asking? Just in case I need to bring it in the future.
