I have a black base GT500 coming in l, either next month or in March. I ordered it without the factory stripes, because I figured I could add aftermarket ones anyway, and choose between additional color combinations.

What is everyone’s opinion on non-factory stripes and different color combinations? Currently thinking about over- the-top stripes in white with red pinstripe, in red with white pinstripe or in matte black with red pinstripe (like the GT350R). Also thinking about side stripes with “GT500” in them. I know Bigwormgraphix makes those.

In another thread a forum member complained about the color of the blue factory stripes and the fact that they don't wrap the hood, and had them replaced.

Removed the factory stripes. They were way darker than depicted on the Ford build site(see photo below) and I didn’t like how the factory stripes didn’t wrap around the hood, bumpers and finish around the spoiler.

I would do white stripes or red stripes.

Red on the black looks really good. Also would match the brake calipers.

Actually I am doing this too, I opted to get the stripes after market mainly due to cost, I have a place here that will do the stripes for $700 instead of the $1400 Ford charges for the same 3rd party work since they dont do the striping themselves. And once done I am getting it ceramic coated which should preserve the stripes from peeling. I plan to go with white stripes over the top and white on the sides, because with Rapid red color, red really isnt going to stand out and I think black could work but would have to see it how it would look. After far as it saying "GT 500" I was looking actually for it to say "Shelby" on the door stripes near the front quarter panel, and was thinking of white inserts on the front splitter where it says Shelby. Dont know yet I still have time to decide.

Red on black looks great, but Black on red in my opinion doesnt stand out as much, more subtle at least to me.

Leave it plain. Especially black.

My '07 GT500 had no stripes (was Alloy in color) and I loved it. Stealthy.

Didn't give the Shelby inserts on the front splitter much thought yet, but I thought red inserts looked pretty neat on the GT350R with white stripes with red pinstripes:

Actually looking at the red Shelby inserts on the front splitter is a nice offset to the racing stripes

You could also have them made a little wider. Ever notice the Shelby's painted by the Shelby team in the 60s are a little wider?

I've looked for the "letters" online but so far, haven't found any for the '20. For those who have or had a 350, do you think the splltter mold for the letters is the same?

I do like the looks and have them on my SD but those are on the painted surfaces and the letters are black. For the 500 color may be an issue matching Rapid Red.

I wanted stripes attached to vin and the car delivered exactly how i wanted it. They have served their purpose. I justvdropped car off for paint correction, PPF Ceramic Coating window tinting, amd new stripes.

If i had 1 complaint about the car, its the stripes not going all the way around the edges

I think black car white stripes red pin wpuld look ok, but if it were mine, id levae the pinstripe off, thats just me. Less is more sorta thing

Angel: I second Steve's emotion on the pin stripes. Plus, there's very little surface area for adhesive and that would increase the chances for a peel. Finally, don't you want it to look like a 500 rather than a 350? (and of course, no offense to any 350 owners.)

The SHELBY letters on the GT500 are bigger than the letters on the GT350. At least for the non R.

If you can find someone local that will give you a great deal on painted stripes. I have had them on my past 3 cars and love them!
