Lol. It seems that mentioning the forum gets under the skin of people who work at mechanic shops. I just start telling them I have a few friends now
It's just worse because I work here lol:lol:

Does the noise still exist for people who have switched to an aluminum drive shaft? I have the stock one and it's pretty quiet, but was curious if switching to an aftermarket DS fixed the issue for anyone.
It will fix the problem, IF that's the issue with your car.

Go read the long vibrations post & you will see it can be a host of different things or combo of things. So far on mine they have replaced a tire (would not balance) and I'm on my 3rd drive shaft (the 2nd one actually made it worse). It's much improved over the way it was, but there is still some vibration. The $6M question now is what's next ? Flanges, rear end, wheel bearings

Hmmm?

Have any of you with the problem had your rear subframe alignment checked? If not how about the wheel alignment? If it's not a trans problem or a driveshaft or tire /wheel issue then alignment is the next thing to check.... Get to to it guys and for God's sake don't tell them you saw this on a Forum.

I have the same hum noise at 65mp/h, starts at 64mp/h, gone at 66mp/h. Mine is a manual so this removes the possibility of being transmission related.

It's not the tires or a wheel balance issue either, it happens with both my winter wheel set and summer wheel set, same noise. Has to be either rear differential or wind harmonics.
I've had the rear diff replaced on mine and I still have the noise

For all of those who are getting nowhere with their dealerships, I suggest you try a different one. I took my 2015 GT PP in for the same issue, gear whine at highway speeds. The Ford Tech Hotline had my dealer diagnose via a differential tear down, where they found the backlash was off from the factory. Rebuilt the differential with new pinion, gear and bearings. All is good again.

As a side note: I ended up having driveshaft vibration after the work was completed. They remedied that at a later appointment by replacing the shaft.
