Hey Fellas -

Picking up the new 'R' next week in Ruby Red (the old GT350 went back a few weeks ago - long story) and I was wondering what you guys have done, if anything, for wheels for the daily drive?

I'm looking to remove the Carbon wheels and bring them out on track days only. This car will be my daily driver (except in the snow) and I am looking for ideas and pictures for a new set.

I was wanting the MRR M600 but they won't be available until March or April.

CCW Corsairs are what I'm planning to go with.
I would be interested in seeing what those look like on your car when you get them. The CCWs seem to be some of the least expensive forged wheels out there that are actually designed for track use.

I love the feel of the carbons on the street. If I wasn't OCD about marking them up upon tire change, I'd stick with them. A place by me says they will not mark them up but I'm skepticle.

I like the m600s too, the 10 spokes like the 350 wheels. I may get a set of those. Don't know the weight but if they don't run close to the caliper and they look nice, I'm good with that. I can wait a few months. I also like the Forgelines ran on the 350RC and new GT4. May go that direction.

I don't think they have a lug solution for the R tho.
I doubt anyone will make an aluminum rim that incorporates a lug solution for the R. The R rims are about 1.5" thicker through the mounting face than pretty much any aluminum rim. The lugs are longer to accommodate that extra thickness, leaving you with 1.5" of extra lug sticking out.

What you can do on the front (and I've done it) is use an 11" rim that is the right size and offset for the rear of a GT350 non-R (ET62) and put a 38mm (1.50") spacer behind it. That gives you a front rim with a (drum roll please) ET24, which is an exact match to the R front rim. Stock lug nuts work on that combination.

The rear is harder - I don't know (yet) how much longer the rear studs are, but the exercise has to be the same - get a rear rim that yields the right offset when you install a spacer that uses up the extra length. It's probably in the range of ET70 to ET80, but I'm not sure. That's a Porsche kind of offset, so it might not be that difficult to find. I don't know, though.

Of course, if you don't plan to run the CF rims at all, just stack them up in your garage and install a set of regular GT350 hubs. Or get a hacksaw blade for your Sawzall. Either way, then you can use the stock lug nuts with aluminum wheels for as long as you own the car, and it's a fairly simple job to restore the OEM R hubs when you go to sell it (or show it)..

Fair enough - depends on what you're comfortable with. I'm running R front hubs on my non-R GT350 specifically so I can run a square set of 19x11 ET62 track wheels with 305 r-comps. I bought a set of OEM Chevy open lug nuts to go over the longer studs for those occasions when I put my regular GT350 rims back on.

What different studs are you planning to install?

I haven't called the company to discuss the specs yet but hopefully getting my studs from the same company that supplies studs for the Multimatic 350s.

The open lug nut idea sounds like the best way to keep the original long studs.
I have the 6GR's in R-spec on my R. I use closed Gorilla lugs on the rear and open lugs on the front. With the open lugs on the front, a significant portion of the studs remains exposed, but I simply used short, closed Gorilla lugs to cover the exposed section. I know there are some who fear that the outer lugs on the front might present a hazard, but after 2K+ miles daily driving with this setup, I've not had even one of the outer lugs get loose. I figured if I had encountered such an issue, a little loc-tite would solve the issue. One note: this is my daily setup. I switch back to the stock setup for track/HPDE duty.
