Edit: Thanks all, car is going in on Monday to get checked out.

Hey All, probably just being overly paranoid with a new car but does is this normal sounding? Car is 2016 with 26k miles, just purchased CPO and trying to figure out if they need to take a look at it :) Temps and Oil are good and this is fully warmed up.

Thanks all :)

I will say I have never heard my 2019 making that noise.

That does not sound normal at all. More noise coming from the engine, than from the exhaust. Sounds more like a diesel, than a high performance engine.
Was it making that noise when you looked at it before buying?

I am honestly not 100% sure, You can really only hear it if you get close to the passenger side wheel and it only occurs when the engine is at operating temperature. It is completely possible that I just didn't hear it on the test drive.

Echoing Postal Bob, that sounds like a diesel more than anything else; I'd get it checked out asap.

Definitely doesn’t sound normal. Is it louder at the front of the engine than the back? Change with RPM?

So the only place I can hear it is on the passenger side wheel well, I can't hear it from under the hood or on the driver side. Sounds more like the back of the engine. When I rev the engine I can't hear it at all.

Do you mind taking a video from the front of the engine, by the radiator? Same with that same spot with some throttle to get rpms up and down?

There aren’t many options if it’s not coming from the front and not increasing with rpm. Hmm

Mine is louder after an oil change and the sound diminishes over time. Also, if you run it to redline a few times the ticking sound goes away. I hope it's normal

Respectfully, “oil good” = level between the marks on the dipstick when checked according to the procedures in the Owners Manual?

Definitely not normal and paranoia isn’t necessarily a bad thing with these vehicles just don’t let it affect your enjoyment!

I hope it’s nothing major and that it’s a quick and simple fix. (Sounds more like a 4.0 Tacoma than a diesel to me. In the Tacoma, it’s a vacuum switch valve..)

Thank you for the reply. Correct, I checked the oil shortly after turning it off and it was right at the top of the full line on the dipstick.
