I’m a long time Shelby owner, my first was a 1969 GT500 back in mid 80’s that I sold in 1989. Then it was on to a 1969 GT350 convertible that I still have that I bought with the money from the sale of the GT500. All this time I’ve had a 1970 Boss 302 that I sold in October. I’ve wanted a 2015-2020 GT350 since the first one I saw in person when they first came out. The last few years I’ve been researching and talking to owners, getting rides at open track events, and learning as much as I could so when the time came I was educated on what to watch out for and what I wanted. I narrowed it down to a wanting a 2017-2020 that was red with white stripes, Recaro seats, Entertainment package, no history problems, and preferably low mileage. I found what I was looking for, and the price was in my ballpark. I found this 2018 GT350 with everything I wanted with 7500 miles, and was with the Ford Blue Gold Certified Warranty. It also had the rear spoiler swapped with a Ford Performance spoiler, passenger side oil catch can, clutch spring kit, hood struts, shock covers, and a few other things. The car was immaculate, and the only things I could find was two tiny stone chips on the hood, and on the trunk lid stipe the decal had a little bit messed up, but its tough to notice. They even gave me a new decal to replace it if I wanted. One of the two previous owners seem to have put a different exhaust system on it from the cats back, but I wasn’t able to tell what it is. It sounds good, and the car drives great. It was cool out on the test drive and the way home, so I couldn’t really push it like I would have liked. I can’t tell if a previous owner painted or powder coated the Brembo’s. It was fun driving it the 3 ½ hours home from the Chicago area, but kind of stressful getting close to home when it was getting dark and the deer like to come out. All put away in the garage my wife and I couldn’t stop smiling and admiring it. Then the weather finally turns to crap around here and it snows, they salt the roads, and now it will sit in the garage until spring. Tough to buy such a fun car and then have to let it sit for so long.
A big shout out to lorne34 on here for answering a lot of questions and pointing me in the right direction on some things while purchasing this car. I’m looking forward to getting this car on the track this coming season and enjoying some fun back road cruises. I’m sure its way more capable than I am, even though I’ve been tracking cars since the mid 80’s.
I’m bummed that it doesn’t have the original owners supplement kit or the original window sticker. I’m going to do some research and see if I can find the previous owners and if they still have those items. The car was sold new in Nebraska to an owner in Iowa, then to the second owner in Plainfield, Illinois. It’s a shot in the dark, but I have to try. I ordered an Ford cover for it Saturday. The previous owner left the original spoiler with the car, so that’s cool to have if I ever want to use that. The dealer was great to deal with, they put it up on a drive on rack for me to inspect everything under the car.
