That's what they said. M3 could mean the old E92 or the new F80/F82 platforms. I hope it's the latter, which means they knew they had to contend with a car that's significantly lighter than the previous model.
Exactly, which makes me more hopeful about the 200 lb. rumor floating around. That's still a pretty impressive setup in the coupe to overcome.

I just really hope that Ford is going to surprise us. I'd like to think the numbers all around are so good that they are waiting until later to "wow" us again. The initial launch was a "wow" event. If they come out in a few months and say the GT gets 450 hp and is 200-250lbs lighter that is going to be another "wow" event. If the specs are good they can milk this thing until launch.

Yea I'm not sure if the new mustang will be able to keep up in the handling/track department anymore:

" the suspension components have been redesigned and are made in aluminum. The front suspension of each model gets aluminum control arms, wheel carriers and axle subframe, which is bolted directly to the chassis with no bushings to reduce suspension elasticity and improve handling precision. Ball joints are used instead of rubber bushings to further improve suspension rigidity and maintain handling precision. Additionally, each model gets an aluminum stiffening plate and a CFRP front strut-tower brace to keep the front end stiff.

The rear, five-link suspension gets similar treatment. Each model gets control arms and wheel carriers made of forged aluminum that together weigh 6.5-pounds less than the previous M3's setup. The rear subframe is also bolted directly to the chassis with no rubber bushings; again to improve rigidity and handling."

Yikes, although from the sounds of it the M3-4 will probably start close to 70k

Well The TireRack just released their M4 @ Streets of Willow Video (to go in their other cars at Streets of Willow series) with Randy Pobst driving. BMW M4 ran it in 1:23.73, 2015 GTPP ran it in 1:24.32.

Wheels and Tires on the M4:
Front 18x9 w/ 255/40/18 Michelin Pilot Super Sports
Rear 18x10 w/ 275/40/18 Michelin Pilot Super Sports

Wheels and Tires on the GTPP:
Front 19x9 w/ 255/40/19 Pirelli P-Zeroes
Rear 19x9.5 w/ 275/40/19 Pirelli P-Zeroes

Looking at same tire widths, different overall tire heights (front and rear are different for both cars, dafuq Ford?)

Given the nearly 150lb weight difference and $20,000 price difference I wouldn't say we are doing too bad. Especially given how AWFUL the P-Zero is for a tire. They should really rename them to P-ZeroGrip! :) I sure as heck wouldn't call the P-Zero comparable to the Pilot Super Sports...

Nice find! Swap the tires on the GT and it's all over for the M4, well at least at this track anyways. So glad Ford is finally putting some decent rubber on the next performance stang! Tires make a HUGE difference.

The noise of that M4 really makes me hate BMW for getting rid of their V8!

That little fart on every shift really bugs me.

I love the shift belches! The rest of the soundtrack, not so much.

That's also my opinion of every VAG product these days.

Keep in mind the times were from a completely different day. Also, in the video they even mention that the track had extremely high temps, yet the M4 was still recorded a very good time. Also, the Pirelli tires on the Mustang are far from shitty. Same tire used on the 991S...its not the Pirelli A/S that Mustangs generally get.

The M4 is severely under tired, I know several people who track these things already and several have been wrecked as the car just got away from them from all the torque.

I test drove a M4 extensively and the cars acceleration is fierce, the car needs 305s out back.
