NEW INFO ON GT500

Id like SC as well. Less upkeep over the long haul. Im going to take TN's hint as to what is coming next. TT v8. Should be easy enough to make insane power.

Supercharged V8 - oh yeah, count me in!!

I posted in another thread, I wouldn't be surprised that with Ford's pretty successful move to turbos for several vehicles - Focus ST/RS, Mustang Ecoboost, Explorer Sport, GT [etc] - that they go turbo on the GT500 as well.

Several perks:

- Unique in the market segment
- Consistent technology across all products
- Current turbo tech is extremely efficient and effective

They could also create a new campaign - could be spun as "Eco Boost" - around a smaller _yet_ more efficient, higher output engine than the previous generation.

For fun, I was thinking about displacement in some existing turbo cars, and efficiency, etc.

BMW gets ~131HP/L out of their M5 sport package with a 4.4L V8, GT-R ~161, Porsche TT-S ~152.

Fords turbo tech in their smaller displacement cars like the Focus RS is ~152HP/L, and the GT as a maximum potential super exotic engine has something crazy (ex: 650 @ 3.5L = ~186!)

So even if Ford was able to slightly improve on the M5, let's say to 140HP/L, with a 5.2L with that kind of ratio would be ~728HP.

Of course your point is very well taken.
No doubt Ford has spent tons of cash on EB R&D, cost analysis stuff, marketing and real world racing applications with the GT.
In my heart, I do believe that EB represents the future of Ford performance.
It will be the "Total Performance" for this generation

I have no problem with it being a eb V8.
Cause all that means to me is that I get have a little more fun before needing to fill the tank again. :lol:

4.0L EcoBoost V8. That's what's new.

The GT500 will use the 5.2 Coyote with Turbos.

I'm thinking in the lines of a 5.0L Flat plane crank EB V8 for the Mach 1 and TT or S/C version for the GT500.
Maybe I like to think to far outside the box but who know for sure lol.

A nasty rumor began circulating on Mustang web sites and Facebook groups this week that Ford was enacting a plan to phase out its V8 engines after 2018. The original publisher of the rumor, ********************, cites an unnamed source who states that the Blue Oval’s V8 engines only have a few more years to live due to tightening CAFE fuel economy regulations.

However, the rumor is “utterly and completely absurd, fabricated and ridiculous” according to Ford Global Powertrain Communications manager Paul Seredynski. “The V-8 still plays an important role in our product lineup, having just launched the new 5.0-liter V-8 in the 2015 Mustang,” he continued. “We’ve also announced another upcoming new V8 – the flat-plane 5.2-liter – in the GT350 and GT350R.”

That said, Ford will likely be downsizing many of its engines in the future even in many of its performance oriented cars. The new Ford Performance division (the merging of SVT, Ford Europe’s Team RS, and Ford Racing) unveiled three new vehicles at this week’s North American International Auto Show: the Shelby GT350R, F-150 Raptor, and Ford GT. The Raptor and GT are powered by high-performance V6 engines, replacing the V8 in their predecessors, although the Shelby GT350R and its slightly tamer sibling, the Shelby GT350, house an all-new 500-horsepower 5.2L V8 engine.

Regardless, Mustang fans will be glad to know that a V8 option will be available for a long time to come. “We haven’t even launched our newest V8 yet, so that tells you how far down the road we’re looking,” Seredynski told us. “And we still have our diesel V8s in our trucks. The Ford V8 isn’t going anywhere.”

So there is no misunderstanding.
As you can see it states the 5.2L is already revealed and states there is another V8 that hasn't been revealed yet.
Or I can be miss interpreting what he is saying.
would be nice if someone Ford could comment or something.

Agreed. But I'm wondering how close will Ford let Chevy and Dodge catch-up in sells before releasing the Mach 1 and the GT500 ?

I'm gone be staright with you if Ford Drops the V8 5.0 from the Mustang you can hang it up no body buy's a Mustang For V6 ecoboost or not
