IMO, I think anyone going catless should go with some kind of resonator. I started with mak deletes and an x pipe. Pitch was terrible, and in track mode every cop within 3 counties could hear me hooning.

If he wants a reliable 650rwhp daily and is not trying to reach the 900 wheel mark, there is nothing wrong with the cat deletes and by no means would it be considered "cheaping out". Regardless the cat deletes have been proven by companies like procharger to be fine for your typical boosted mustang (not someone who eventually wants to go balls to the wall).
I made over 900whp on just cat deletes

One factor not mentioned is which supercharger? If a centri then definitely go with long tubes because they increase power under the curve where Centris benefit the most. I run Kooks shorties but now that I’m looking to get every last pony I can get from my combo I’m considering switching to long tubes. Would have been cheaper and less work to do it once.

Point proven. Do it once. Do it right.

I originated this thread about new headers before or after supercharging - if ever, and want to thank everyone for their helpful replies. All this wisdom is going to give me a lot to think about! :-)

I’ll just leave this here.
Short version, the car picked up less than 20hp at peak after fitting 2” Kooks headers.
I’m not saying it’s conclusive evidence, but it’s worth considering.
