So I haven’t been around for a while after 18 mustangs, GT500s, GT500 KR, Shelby GT, Mach1, GT 350, multiple fox bodies, 2 93 Cobras, stage 3 2011 Roush , I haven’t been able to have a pony in my stable because of my two girls in college so now I’m looking to get back in to a nice garage queen. I love the
Limited edition aura of course I’ve had a 1980 turbo Trans Am and just love the scarcity of it. Love going to car shows, although I didn’t go to too many because I’m afraid of people scratching my car but love to be the guy who has the so-called diamond in the rough. So, I love the new dark horse Mustang and I can order it fresh with my name on the window sticker but the one thing I don’t not like is the dashboard with all these computer screens I love the old school gauges. I also love the 2015/50 anniversary, also the 2011 Boss 302. What would you guys do? Order a new dark horse so I am the original owner although I didn’t stand the dash. Or find a very low mileage 2015 or 2011 Boss 302?

It’s all up to what you want…

IMO, if the dash layout in the S650 is not to your liking, then why pay that amount of $$$ for a vehicle you’ll be in and have to have that view every time you’re in it?

As for the B302 - you probably meant 2012 or 2013. Those were the (2) years they were produced. 2012 is more raw while the 2013 is kind of refined and had dash cluster gimmicks like the 2014+…. The 2012 was just a raw car with no gimmicks. The only other difference is the exterior body looks - are you more of a 2012 or more of a 2013, it’s personal preference. These cars with really low miles, expect to layout $40k+, even upper echelon of $50k for one that is really low miles, documented and comes with all it was ordered with when new. If you’re looking for one make sure it already has the Track Key and software installed - it’s next to impossible to get now. It used to be available through Ford Performance for B302 owners for a B302 that never had it when new, but last update I’ve come across is FP has or is discontinuing it.

The 2015 true LE 50th, is the going to be a key collector Mustang as the years pass. This was the only S550 where the Build number matched the last digits of the VIN. It also has unique parts that were never carried forward to any other S550. It only came in (2) colors. Again, due to the low build quantity, if you’re looking for super low miles and an almost new S550 with all docs, cover, etc., expect to pay in the $40k-$50k+ range for these…. Their value isn’t dropping and with more disappearing from the roads due to wrecks etc, the count continues to go down.

All of the models you mention are niche Mustangs, they all have their place, and all command decent $$$. It’s really up to you for what you want it for, how it will be used, and IF you’re one to keep vehicles for a period of time. If you’re looking to get into one of these and only keep it for say a year or 2, you’re not going to cash out if that is in the plans…. more so on a new DH that would just depreciate a fast $20% as soon as you drove it off the lot.

Don‘t know how it is by you, but here in 2025, it‘s actually rare to see any other Mustang never mind a special edition. People don‘t care about Mustangs anymore. Different world.
As far as your decision, well, two things to note. You apparently have had enough cars to make your own decision and based on that, you probably wouldn’t keep the DH either, so probably better not to take the loss and get something else.

Thank you for your comments. Yes I like the 2012 boss 302 but I’ve also heard they have transmission problems. I love the boss 302 and the dark horse because they are unique looking. I think the uniqueness after I have ordered many Mustangs of having your name on the window Sticker is a little prestigious also. Now the 2015 Kona 50th anniversary from the outside looks like any other Mustang, but I know all the uniqueness of the interior, the numbers, the dashboard so I’m probably leaning towards that. Still don’t know which one to do yet, I did put in an offer on a 2007 GT500 in Alloy with almost no miles on it but they wanted 45,000. I loved that color alloy but for that kind of money I could buy the 2015.

Unless you plan on competitive racing with the car, the MT-82 in the Boss is fine.
There are a lot of easy and reasonable upgrades to enhance the Mt-82.

Mine is stock and while a little notchy it is totally useable and has not missed a shift yet.
A fluid upgrade to BG fluids in the tranny can also make a big difference. I am changing to the BG fluids when bring it out in the spring.

I’d buy what I like the most not what a bunch of strangers on the internet suggest.

But if I’m making suggestions, I think the best bang for buck mustang likely to ever be made is a S550 Mach 1 HP.

If being special is all you care about, I'd find one of the 2015 350/Rs, ideally with the radio delete. Sort of a unicorn, but very cool. The boss 302 would be the other suggestion.

But I'm just an internet stranger, so what I consider special may not be the same as yours.

H MT82 will be fine with normal shifting, but if you start racing and quick shifting it, problems will be imminent.

I like the Boss a lot. Funny thing is, I’ve found myself looking at Boss Mustangs very recently. I would love to have one.

I like the S550/50 too, but it would be second to the Boss.

According to your M6G post in 2021, You had the Mach 1 for 21 miles with the plastic on the recaros and sold it the next day to a dealer for $300 less than you paid for it. How did you know you didn't like it If you never got the chance?
