Hey everyone, had a quick question about an early 2015 mustang GT premium that I may pull the trigger on. It's used with about 55k on the odometer. I'm not new to the mustang world, but I am new to the Gen 2 GT world and was wondering if anyone would have any issues with the below modifications. It's a 2 owner car, clean carfax, but the dealer has no other info on who did the mods or tuned it etc. Thanks for any help.

ROUSH Phase 2 Supercharger Kit Includes:
ROUSH TVS R2300 Supercharger
ROUSH Low-Restriction Air Filter Induction System
ROUSH Large Aluminum Intercooler
ROUSH High-Flow Fuel Injectors
ROUSH 60mm Dual-Bore Throttle Body
ROUSH Custom Designed Heavy-Duty FEAD System
Higher Boost 80mm Pulley
High Performance Spark Plugs
BBK Performance Exhaust
American Racing (Style: AR920) Wheels
Custom Suede Flat-Bottom Steering Wheel
Carbon Fiber Shift Knob w/ Carbon Fiber Boot Trim

Roush superchargers are very prone to heatsoak due to their design.
Hmm interesting, so it's not so much the engine not being able to handle the power but a heatsoak issue?

Heatsoak isn't a reason to avoid it.

There is always a risk with modified cars that

a, the build was crap
b, its been ragged on
c, related to b, the stresses have rendered the powertrain vulnerable to fail

If you need this car to be a reliable dd, I will put my Dad hat on and say no.
If its a second car and you don't mind wrenching on it at some point, go for it.

Specific to the heat soak concerns, I did a Google search while referencing 6G.

You might have seen the existing Roush thread. It's extensive.

https://www.mustang6g.com/forums/th...s-who-actually-have-the-the-roush-kit.127474/

I can't speak to Roush, but if I was interested in a car like that, I'd want to study these topics:

- The car is a '15. Has the SuperCharger been on since new? UNK. Cannot be determined.

- What is the condition of the exhaust system? Factory cats or replacement? Condition?

- Is the car is tuned?

- Is the dealer agreeable to having the car inspected by another shop?

- For CA, when was the last emissions test or inspection performed? Proof? OP in TX now.

It's an older car with a SC. At my level of mechanical ability, I'd pass. If you're good at spinning wrenches and the price is right, it could be worth considering. As mentioned above, even if cared for very well, the additional stress of the SC will be felt throughout the drivetrain. If the car was designed or built to support a blower from the start, great. If not, I'd expect parts to fail at a faster rate.

I appreciate the response RTR. Like I said the dealership has no idea how long it's been installed. It does come back as a 2 owner car with very low mileage IMO for a 2015 with only 55k. I don't need it to be a reliable DD but thanks dad haha. I don't really want to start wrenching on it out of the box, but it seems to me that the proper components are there and that it was built with quality in mind. The heat soak issue has me a bit concerned now.

Thanks for the links! Damn that first mustang6 link is massive haha will give me plenty to do for research that's for sure. Like I said, the dealer has no idea how long the blower has been on there, it is a 2 owner clean car with low mileage (55K) for a 2015 IMO, so maybe it was a garage queen from the start. Dealership said it is not the original clutch, but that it does have CATS. Also I'm no longer in that god for saken state lol, i'm in TX now so no issues there.

Always good to have a cold pair of eyes take a look. If you have a shop or someone you trust, ask them to perform a thorough check of everything possible. Any visual inspection or test that would give you confidence in the health of the vehicle and how well cared for.

A car like this is worth less than an unmodded one IMO due to the liability of what its probably been through. the main thing these cars need is suspension and if that is the complete mod list that's been neglected entirely which carries implications about the previous owner I won't get into here.

I appreciate your opinion Oakley, some people tend to like a lil more horsepower on a stock suspension setup as a weekend joy rider, it's not something I'd be wanting to do, but we all have our reasons. With you bringing up the "proper" way of building a 5.0 out like this, are the internals sufficent on a stock 5.0 for adding this type of blower?

OP you really need to do your homework on that car before you buy. Pay someone that is more familiar with mechanics/those specific mods.

We understand you are okay with a modded car - but we (us active forum members) can't tell you how often we see posts about "bought a modded car and [didn't do my research] need help figuring out what's wrong."

You should price in that kind of risk into your offer price, especially since the dealer has no work records for the car... if it was a trade in maybe ask if they could contact the previous owner for some questions. If it was bought at auction, avoid and move on.

Thanks for the response Crew, I will take that into consideration. I appreciate your feedback!

This is the older (better) 2300 not the infamous 2650 from the gen 3 cars

this one is just fine
