Hey all,

Brand new to the 6G forum and performance cars in general- just purchased a used 2018 GT and was wondering if someone can help answer a few questions!

The used GT has a JLT intake equipped and I recently found out it that this specific intake requires a tune. I am assuming the vehicle is tuned because of this. Since the car only has 3k miles I was hoping to keep the manufactures warranty.

Is there a simple way to check if it is tuned and if so then remove it and replace with the stock intake? If re flashed to stock with the original intake would Ford accept the warranty or know of prior tunes?

Hello Grok,

Based on what I read, even if the car gets flashed back to stock (assuming it was tuned), the dealer will still be able to tell as the flash count increases in the car's computer.

I think most intakes do not require a tune... I hope someone can chime in, in finding out if the car is tuned or not. Good luck.

Thanks for the input, I was told by the dealership the only thing done to the car was an intake and would be under warranty. But after researching online it would seem that the car is tuned because it is a JLT. I don’t think they knew this. I still want the manufacture warranty.

No problem. Did you get that in writing? If not done yet, I would try to either get an e-mail from them, or maybe a text message.

And when did you purchase the car? Why don't you take it back in and demand that they plug it in and see the key count / reflash count.

I purchased it on Saturday. I only have a text saying the intake is the only thing done to it. It is a dodge dealership, if that makes any difference. I could ask for them to check the key count, but it’s over an hour away. Maybe I could find a friend with a scanner to check first?
