I like the black cover I have. I changed radiators yesterday, I had orange in system. I poured 2.5 gallons of new yellow into my system.

Small to ovetkill

Silly question.

If you pull the bottom rad hose to drain the antifreeze/coolant, is there anything else that needs to be done to flush it out, or is it just a case of once it stops dripping = job done?

Also when filling back up, what is the procedure? Just start the car let it get up to temp and run the coolant around. Turn car off, let cool, open expansion tank, top-up. And so on and so forth? Or can you top it up with the engine running and the expansion tank lid off? I'm guessing not?

Mine is coming up to 5 years and so if I were to drop the coolant I'd probably grab some of the newer yellow coolant instead of the orange. Was just thinking ahead on what the steps would be.

Thanks.

Just drain it until it stops dropping out. Id use the radiator drain plug on the passenger side. Get a 3/8 hose to connect to it to run to your drain pan. If you pull the lower hose you will douse yourself and make a huge mess, lol. The car should mostly self bleed but I recommend leaving the front elevated. Run it at idle with the cap off and the heat on until the thermostat opens. Once you have nice hot heat, it's pretty much done. Let it cool off and top off the coolant level until it's above the min line in the reservoir.

Yellow and orange oat mix just fine, so no need to flush.

Lol ahh a drain plug would be the safer choice! So I'm safe to keep the hose attached to the drain plug, keep the cap off the reservoir and run at idle (with the heater on) and that will drain out anything left in the system. Then I can fully refill and just keep an eye on how it goes? Perfect thanks :)

There's a little nipple to attach a hose to, you'll see it. With that said I wasn't saying you should run the car to drain the system, do that with the car off. The running the car with the cap off at idle is for bleeding air pockets after its been refilled.

I'm wanting to change my coolant to blue, rather than the ugly orange.
I'm looking at Prestone AF6100, Zerex 861398-CS, or Pentosin 8114117 (Although, not familiar with Pentosin brand)?
They are all HOAT coolants so I believe with a good flush I should be okay but I would REALLY appreciate input from those with more experience in this matter. Thoughts?

If Ford say to mix it then how can that be bad ? :like:

I topped mine off today with some Mountain Dew ... lol

It had done the initial drop from new, took around 350 ml to get it up to max on a cold engine.

Whilst I was at it, I took the opportunity to swap out the factory bolts :

To something with a bit more colour to match the coolant and the paintwork (and straighten the mounts / neaten the plastic) :
