Nobodies telling you to believe it. 800 rwhp ain't gonna hook. Period. Correction, maybe from a 60 / 70 / 80 mph roll. That's about it.
Have you ever had a car with more than 500hp? lol

Once again, all I'm finding hard to believe is that a Firestone summer tire with a tread rating of 340 is going to hook BETTER than a drag radial.

Tread ratings are made up numbers and are not comparable across brands. Furthermore 'race' tires generally have very narrow temperature bands where they work at the optimum. It is PERFECTLY valid that the Firestone grips better than some drag radial if the carcass and surface temps are such that the Firestone is closer to being in that zone and the drag radial is farther off. If both tires are in their respective zones, then sure the drag radial is very likely to win bigly.

Yes I understand that. He made a general statement so maybe he can clarify on that a bit. Did he ever drive his NT05R tires in warm weather? Was it ever sunny out where the streets got some heat in them? Im finding it real hard to believe that he only drove his drag radials in the winter...lol

Very true. And tires take time to heat up depending on a number of factors. And some models will heat up quicker than others.

Holy.

FOR ME:
NT05R (305 / 35 R19) on the street ZERO traction from a stop. Somewhat better from a 40 mph role, but still spun like crazy
INDY 500 (325 / 30 R19) on the street much better traction from a stop. Nowhere near the spinning from a 40 mph roll.

At the track:
NT05R, standard burnout (haze them), staged, dump the clutch at 3000, result 2.30's 60ft
INDY 500, standard burnout (haze them), staged, dump the clutch at 3000, result mid 1.90's 60ft

Longer burnouts made both worse, no burnout made both worse at the track. I don't do burnouts on the street.

Buy whatever you want. I only gave a suggestion and what worked for me. NT05R's certainly did not.

Gotcha thanks for clarifying!

I haven't ran the NT05R's myself, but have seen them 60' in the high 1.4 range on a vette with 19's. Different car altogether, but its just hard to imagine that car doing better with a Firehawk 500 tire...

Because DR's are much harder to master, street radials are much more forgiving. If you know what your doing, more drag radial power to ya. For the casual drag race guy (like me) drag radials w/ the MT82 on a stiff suspension, they can be a real pain in the ass. <- maybe I shoulda made this point more clear in the first place. Sorry about that.

I've driven Bridgestone Potenza & now Firehawks and the firehawk's are hard to beat for street. Never used Nitto or M/T tires.

There is no shortage of complaints regarding the PZero. As far as drag racing goes, I haven't a clue. For a pretty grippy street tire/all-arounder some good ones are: Firehawk Indy 500, Michelin PS4S, Sunitomo HTRZ III

Stay away from slicks or anything near to being a slick, otherwise you'll be in a heap of trouble if caught in wet weather. I would consider wear as a major factor as well as hydroplaning resistance - not just ultimate grip.
i highly recommend the sumitomos out of that list. they have the newest compound out of all the budget performance tires and are the best tires i've ever had, and i've tried all kinds. they hook great on the street, and took me to 11.90 on the track
