My "Save my A$$" Performance Package kit

Wouldn't a performance package car be able to run the front tire in the rear as a "spare" for a short distance? Say I bought a new front PP rim and tire, wouldn't I just be able to mount it on the rear and drive to a tire shop? Thinking they have the same circumference, just 1/2" more narrow wouldn't cause much of an issue, on a short drive, other than a slight pull.

Yes, a PP front wheel/tire can be used on the rear no issue. To put the rear on the front, you'd need a 5mm spacer.

So all you need to square up a Performance Package car is an extra set of rear wheels and two 5 mm spacers on the front hubs? That is really handy information. I want to square mine up but I've been holding off since I really know next to nothing about rims tires and anything the goes along with it.

Yep, exactly what I did. They are heavy as heck though. I noticed the TSW Maxx looks almost identical and should be quite a bit lighter.

How much is the kit with shipping? Great post that most folks probably don't think about. Glad I had a tire repair kit and compressor with me when we pulled our travel trailer. Plugged a trailer tire on by back, thought I about ripped a muscle out of my back, but got it done and kept going. I would recommend using that lube when you ream the hole in your tire. The plug goes in easier. Oh, and a plastic sleeved socket is about $15 from a Cornwell tool man/woman.

Yeah man the whole thing was about $140 for everything pictured.

I'd probably skip the torque wrench and just use a breaker bar. That torque wrench will probably lose its accuracy over time due to the vibrations and having to use it as a breaker bar to break your lugs loose.

For an emergency fix, getting the lugs "tight" with a breaker bar is more than adequate until you can properly torque them.

Just my two cents.

Yeah, that's a cheap torque wrench from advanced auto and figured I would just toss it in the trunk instead of buying a breaker bar. I'm sure it's not dead on accurate but it was like $30 and has come in handy over the past three years. But yeah if I was to buy something to throw in the back, it would just be a half inch drive breaker bar.

A spare option for the S550 GT PP

If any one is interested I found that a spare from a 2013 Hyundai Equus will fit our performance pack cars front and rear. I did have to open up the hub hole by about 2.3mm but even just using my air die grinder and some sanding drums it wasn't too difficult. New lug nuts and washers for the spare will also be needed as the Hyundai takes a flat style lug nut. I found the tire and wheel used on E-Bay for $125. + shipping and the rest of the costs were minor. Now I just have to decide which jack I want to buy, Ford OEM or aftermarket.

I can't quite make out the tire size on there. Is that a 19" rim (looks like it)? Ebay results show 18" spares.

Nice kit, like the RBF streamer. So l was wondering about the Ford tire repair system, can it be used as a tire pump without injecting the sealant into the tire? Really haven't looked at mine that closely as l ended up getting the Ford spare tire kit.

I did a bit of searching back in June looking for part numbers etc at Hyundai but don't remember if all Equus's used the 19" or it was just on a certain version of the car. I sort of dropped that effort when I saw how much the things cost new from Hyundai.

Thanks. Yea, that's definitely a nice find. I'm not seeing any 19" spares on ebay right now, but I'll definitely pick one up when one pops up.

I don't have brembos now, but I plan on adding them to my car soon, so that spare will come in handy.

Yea this spare is 27.5 in compared to 27.7 in of the pp rear tires. Pretty much a negligible difference.
