I was talking about the carbon fiber shift knob. Here are a few pics of how mine sits.

I kept cranking it down and spinning it until I was happy with the results. I figured if I broke it, I’d learn a $90 lesson
nice red stitching... you do that yourself?

I’m pretty sure it’s standard with the premium interior, 401a package and Showstopper Red interior.

If not, previous owner did a great job!

I have the carbon fiber FRPP knob and if I simply followed the instructions (five full turns) it sat like OP's does. Going from memory, I believe that I put another two full turns on and then it sat like factory. Call me crazy but my transmission has shifted much smoother since I did this mod.

Nice, I may need to go the red sharpee route in the future..

I have an explorer and it has the red stitching, but no luck on the mustang.

That small detail really makes it pop
