And I drive my car harder (In addition to 67k miles, a good amount of track/HPDE work)
Yeah and I almost always use top tier gas. Usually Shell V-Power Nitro.

A crucial factor here is where you get your gasoline from. Top Tier gas like Shell and Costco will keep your engine cleaner. I'd love to see someone Borescope a 5.0 using a catch can vs a car without one. Then a separate test with a 5.0 using mom and pop gasoline vs a 5.0 using just Shell gas. Carbon deposits shouldn't be much of an issue compared to a DI only car.
Always top tier here, plus a few months of E85. My can always catches a few ounces of oil between oil changes. It's not so much about carbon deposits as fuel contamination in this engine. Everything looked remarkably clean when I did my manifold install.

That makes sense especially on a tuned 5.0. You ever use any fuel system cleaner like Chevron Techron or ZMAX?

I always use Top Tier here as well

I am in the process of deciding between the JLT 3.0 and the Bob's Autosports oil separators. I am leaning towards the Bob's.

Yes, I've used Techron once.

+1 on the Red Line. After touring their facility here in the Bay Area I use RLO from front to back. Water wetter, Motor, trans,Diff and fuel system treatments. Top notch stuff.

Back to the catch can thing, I do a lot of track and auto-x and the amount of oil that I see in my JLT 3.0 is shocking. With being tuned and living in Cali where the 91 isnt really
91 all the time I use a catch can as cheap insurance to keep octane up. I always use top tier fuel and never do the bargain gas at shopping centers. But hey, that's just me.

Can you get by not using a catch can...absolutely. Same with bargain gas. Have I ever had a problem with bad gas or knocking? Never.

OP, welcome to the club and be careful, it's a slippery slope lol.
