So I just got done making the tier 2 toggle in CAD... Here is a screenshot of the clearance in the pivot mechanism. That gap you see is .1mm.... For reference, .1mm is about the standard thickness for a sheet of paper. Yea I don't think these will have much play in them at all. :D

Hi Zack, just came across this thread today, very cool project. I'm in Bowie, just bought a Premium GT a few weeks ago. If you need to take any further measurements or whatnot just shoot me an email and I'll send you my number and you could swing by sometime.

I'd like to sign up for the tier 2, but how?
Once the tier is ready I will be posting links in this thread to the shapeways listing! No sign up needed. You just purchase the toggles like you would a product on amazon.

All three toggles rendered. Automatic checks on shapeways are complete on all! Once I receive prototype 2 and verify the new dimensions I should be able to open up sale on tier 1! Tier 2 will probably follow at around 2-3 weeks after.

What would you like to know about tier 2? The design will be identical to tier 1 but with improved clearances for an even better solid feel. The material tier 2 will be made out of is translucent so painting by the buyer will be "required" (you can always leave them translucent if you like the look) The paint I would suggest would be acrylic enamel. This would be wheel paint basically. Should be durable enough for the toggles. You can also plastic dip them if you wish. (unsure how this would hold up though)

You are killing me man sheesh, cant make it thru a whole day at work battery wise from checking this forum lol..... They look great man have you set any prices on what you think you might charge yet? If you do not want to discuss I understand until release. Also will the Tier 2 require fitting at all? Or just paint? Also what kind of heat can it take you think? Paint wise might look into cerakote an extremely durable finished used on firearms

Haha I'm sorry!

I have the estimated cost of both tier 1 and 2 but I would like to hold off on an announcement tell I am done with the R&D. Both tier 1 and 2 should withstand temperatures of 176 degrees f without softening or warping. This is according to shapeways material data sheets. For reference, plastic switches in military aircraft are required to withstand temperatures of 165 degrees f.

Both tier 1 and 2 will probably require some fitment. The extent of this would be just wrapping the toggle bases outside surfaces in electrical tape to get a snug fit in the OEM plastic housing. I left space here to account for shapeways manufacturing and also Ford's manufacturing variations. It is better to be slightly smaller with the base and have it fit loose when received then to have it to big and require sanding.

The paint is all up to the buyer! I plan to have suggestions on paint but anyone can use the paint they want. I will certainly look into it though! Thanks!
