About 6 months ago I noticed a supercharger sounding whine coming from the transmission, especially in first and second gear at parking lot speed.
Dealership diagnosed it as the input/output shaft bearings. It took 6 months to get the parts. It’s winter so she was going to sit anyway. Well, last week I get the call that she’s fixed. It’s been 6 months so I’m excited. On the drive home from the dealership, I suddenly felt a shudder from the engine. Felt like I lost a cylinder, check engine light was flashing, throttle was mushy, and the exhaust tone was different. Ford app said it was a miss fire. Took her back the next day. Wound up being bad gas. They drained it and put fresh in. I’ve never had gas go bad in 6 months, even unstablized. I drove the piss out her on the way home today. So far, no issues.
I’m a little pissed at Tremec. 14,000 miles and the bearings go bad.

Sounds like you dodged a bullet if it is indeed just bad gas.
It was an “oh shit” moment. But they tested the gas and it was indeed bad.

I know the GT350 has the Tremec 3160 tranny in it, but I was just wondering if you were able to have a look at your bad bearings or photograph them? I was wondering if either bearing looked like the input bearing in my MT82-D4 with just 6400 miles on the odometer?

No pics. Didn’t even think to ask for the old ones.

Did you have the dealer upgrade your clutch while they had the tranny out or did you just stick with the factory clutch?

If they didn't put stabilizer in it and the gas was put in from the winter time it could definitely go bad within 6 months, especially if the gas already was sat in the tank at the fuel station. Glad to see though the problem HOPEFULLY is fixed. Bummer the trans had an issue tho :/

X2

Assuming it was ethanol gas E10 (or higher) it could go bad in 6 months.

You call this an ordeal?

Car broke, they fixed it- Where is the problem?

I agree, but sometimes folks call simple things an ordeal. But it does kinda suck not having the car for 6 months and that the bearings went bad that early. Perhaps "saga" or "adventure" would be better terms to use.
