Mustang interior update.....

You know, I traded my '13 Audi A4 for the pony I got and to be real honest when it gets right down to it the A4 still had plastic in most of the same spots and it wasnt like the plastic was magically better - it had some fun trim here and there that was a little better thought out but still - not that much of a jump to the Premium package.

Even if you go jump in an RS5 or an R8 - they still have plastics where you expect there to be leather....

All of the manufacturers are keeping their budget in line with the economy and this redesign is a significant, no wait SIGNIFICANT jump from the last pony car I had...

This is why I couldn't justify the $30,000 plus jump for the same options in a euro car!

What I am trying to figure out is why would the Premium trim only upgrade 50% of the faux stitching ? Just doesn't make any sense to me. Faux stitching in general !?!?!?

Yep. Definitely an awesome interior just not what I needed for my plans.

yeah I can't disagree the Faux stitching is kinda wonky and - well a little on the cheap side...

After looking at both - the Premium was certainly the better option for me at least.

I had to look 2wice at the soft touch dash caps before i realized they weren't really leather, but then again I probably didn't have my glasses on either!

IMO No one would be talking about this if it wasn't for that amazing Camaro interior that just looks more simple and smart. Especially what they did with their mood lighting vs Mustangs.

Interior design definitely has C7 cues, and I loved the C7 interior.

It is what triggered me to post this thread. Love the look of the Mustang interior its just the faux stitching and big one piece "horrible" plastic Center console that do not make sense and imo shouldn't be there. And with the new Camaro revealed we have something to compare the interior to (apples to apples?). Of course we have yet to see the quality and feel of the material but to me it looks like the Mustang is one down in the interior department. Especially looking at the overall picture and the semi digital dash and the HUD.

PS: I prefere the Mustang's interior look over the Camaro.

Its not so much the material its the choices they made. Pick Premium trim option and you upgrade 50% of the faux leather stitching into "real" leather stitching. Why not the two sides of the center stack ? Would only make sense, now it just seems half finished...

Not saying everything needs to be real leather or really nice soft touch material, just do not understand some of the choices they made... I mean faux leather stitching really ? Not going to fool anyone, rather it just have no faux stitching at all.

400 Dollars for the Premium trim. I would pay more for these issues to be fixed, and seeing how many Dollars people spend on Mods on these cars I bet many other would as well.

Faux stitching is an industry trend. If it brings up the perceived value of the car to more buyers than it puts off, then it works.

I agree with this. The gen 6 Camaro has a few interior features our Mustang could use: configurable dash cluster, hud, electronic e brake, etc...Ford just seems to willing to play catch up instead of fully embracing this type of tech.

Well that's true of course but just looking at the faux stitching. There are two pieces that have faux stitching, the dash and the sides of the center stack... isn't it odd that with the premium trim upgrade only one of those items gets its faux stitching upgraded ? Looks messed up and makes no sense to have only one piece be upgraded... Its those things that I do not understand, and really set it back.

Seen the new Camaro interior even though its not really my taste it does looks complete and all makes sense. In terms of material choices I dunno if its good or bad but it all fits together and nothing looks out of place. The faux stitching in the Mustang looks really out of place, especially after the Premium trim upgrade. So does the driver screen in a 2015 car.

1) You talk about faux stitching like it's automatically a bad thing. A lot of people like it, myself included. It helps visually break up large stretches of material.

2) I obviously haven't felt the materials in the 2016 Camaro, although I'm sure they're better than last generation's. But it all looks just way too... busy... for me in the photos. Too many angles and lines shooting off in different directions.

You guys have to remember that the pictures you saw of the 2016 Camaro unveiling were no doubt of a fully loaded SS. You will change your tune once you see the car with cloth seats, no leather trim, no nav etc.

I'm definitely more impressed with the camaro interior. Even if that is a premium model, it is wayyy above the mustang premium interior. The camaro has a more unique design, more aluminum accents, the cabin design actually flows from the doors to the console (instead of having a 90 degree stop), and the gauge cluster is obviously a huge step up from the mustang's with the digital customizeable tachometer and gauges.

The new camaro interior looks like a bunch of kids designed it. Also, the front clip looks like it's modeled after a Lexus LFA, but it doesn't look right. The rear looks like a Dodge Charger.

I give the nod to the mustang on exterior, but the nod to the camaro on interior and features. You obviously haven't used their HUD, or sat in the new vette. Have you seen a vette in stealth mode? It's slick, and a cool feature. I agree the interior might be adolescent, but so is buying a pony car. Don't kid yourself.
