For how cheap it is how can you not get the Enhance Security Package? Best feature is the electronic locking center console. Just one of many, nav is a must too with MFT IMO...
This.

Enhanced security package is damn cheap for what it offers.

I didn't originally opt for the navigation, but for the extra $795 I figured I'd gain two things from this: first, it helps the car hold its value a little better; and second, I want to never have to touch my iphone while in the car. I want to hook it to its charger and stow it. So now when going to a new place I don't have to worry about mounting my phone so I can see google maps.

People that judge a system they haven't used make me chuckle
I'm just giving my .02 based on my real world experience with in car touch screens. They stink. If you're driving you really can't spend the time to go into all these slow sub menus on a LCD screen without taking your eyes off the road. I realize most people are also playing with their phones but we all know it's a recipe for disaster. I like volume and favorite and other buttons to be physical in a car.
Just my opinion you can disagree.

WAZE is free, it works really well and I can buy a lot of fuel for $800.

Hence why the MFT is one of the few In Car systems that actually Multitasks by having the four main zones on the screen available. Not to mention the redundant buttons on the center consume AND steering wheel.

Plus i guess when you're driving it's hard to press the Sync button then say “FM 107.7.” Similarly, when in Radio mode, you can now press the Voice button and say “Play <Track> by <Artist>” (ex. “Play The Ninth Symphony by Beethoven”) to begin listening to a specific track that is stored on your USB-connected device.

It's not difficult. Its no longer slow. Welcome to the future.

The controls on the upper right hand side of the steering wheel control media play, and are contextual (functions change depending on the media source). These buttons function whether the car has MFT or the base radio. ...and you can always use voice commands to do pretty much anything.

I considered it but I don't have a convertible, so what's the point of locking your console? Wheel locking nuts are $20 and it comes standard with an alarm.

I'd rather have Lo-Jack for the insurance discount and the fact they could find my car...maybe.

Calling out OKC #1 spot after axle back install.
The ONLY must have option.....6A.

I have a 6M in my 2012, 0 issues.
The 6A is so important I passed up PP for it...it's that big of a deal.

My build list so far.
Black, 6a, 401a, security package, spoiler delete, 3.55s and premier ebony seats.

Bingo. This is exactly why am I skipping the security package. It's not much money, but even so, I personally still don't see it as that great of a value.

On a convertible, it would be a no-brainer though.

That might or might not be the case but in terms of functionality I'll take ten thousand plastic radio buttons that work and respond when you press them over LCD touch screens with sub menu after sub menu of non responsive buttons. Anything that takes several clicks to do on LCD that can be done by pushing one physical button on a car radio is a fail IMO.

Funny, my wife has the same system in her Fusion and has none of these slow response issues you speak of. We had that initially in our Explorer but that was in 2011 and the update fixed it. So what year is yours that has all the issues you speak of?

Doesn't it also include sensors for if someone raises the car to tow it off or puts arms/hands in your car if system is armed?

Yeah, it does. But I personally think that's generally more valuable with a convertible than a coupe. But to some degree I think it also depends on where you car gets parked every night. If I had to keep my car outside every night in an apartment complex, or on a public street, I'd probably be more inclined to spring for any extra security measures I could. But fortunately mine gets tucked safely into a garage. I think the value of this package really depends on one's individual circumstances.

This device only unlocks the doors it will not trick the key fob proximity sensor though (ignition and center locking console) just food for thought for those that think a hard top means your valuables are safe...

See how car thieves are using high tech devices t…:

I drive with a gun in the car and there are places you can't carry it so that's they easiest place for me to keep it.

Can't tell you how many times in my '13 GT I would lock it, go inside a bar or school, come out and start my car, and then shit.....turn it back off and unlock it just in case it's ever needed..God forbid.

I will admit to being a slow and reluctant adopter of LCD dash tech, since the systems (BMW, M-B, Audi, GM and of course MFT) have taken substantial abuse in the automotive press over the last decade. I have noticed that many of the systems, including MFT, are getting better reviews lately. If MFT works like you say, I think I will learn to like it, though I can see there will be something of a learning curve. Twisting dials and pressing buttons comes pretty naturally, but knowing the correct syntax, and even what commands are available, will take some study and practice.
