MT82 COOKED

finally was able to drop the transmission today and well seems like the input shaft took a ssshhhiii , anyone here have experience with Ben calimer transmissions. Plan on sending mine in for a rebuild. My clutch seems fine but I might as well upgrade to McLeod since the trans is out. What yall think.

Tremec is releasing the Magnum XL that supports DSRM and back up camera for the 19+ on 1 July. You probably want your trans back before then but worth thinking about before you drop 3ish g's on a MT82 rebuild. Just a thought.

When I bought my 2012 GT I remember the horror stories about the MT83. was a guy on another forum "Matero (sp) that had a hell of a ride with ford to take his back. I wouldn't touch one if it was given to me.

well it isn't 2012 any longer. They're generally pretty solid these days.

I have a blown 22’ GT and it blew up the mt82 with 5k on the odo

Now I’ve got 11k on the whip and t56 mag pulls like a freight train and comes back for more.

The mt82 and Tremec are not even in the same category.

Anyone looking to buy a new/used s550/s650 with M6 should go ahead and figure in the $8k to t56 mag xl swap sooner rather than later.

I know Ben Calimer does good work but he’s got some real serious competition now that he didn’t have before.
