I am not sure if there are any strips on the east coast near Daytona but there is Orlando speed world just east of Orlando on highway 50 that's been there years and one in Bradenton on the west coast near Tampa.

The one in West Palm Beach near Ft Lauderdale recently closed down sadly.

Those are all 1/4 miles track but there may be some 1/8 mile tracks close to Daytona that I am unaware of.

I will definitely have to scope the area out when I get there. It will be cool though to take the M1 around Daytona when I get a chance.

By the way, I never did ask. Of course I’m going to be very close to Daytona Speedway where I know I could do laps if I want to around there on certain days. Are there any drag strips near Daytona Beach that I should be aware of or close by?

I have never been around Daytona speedway. I have been around Talladega more times than I can count on a motorcycle when I worked for Harley at Talladega test facility in research and development on the V-rod from 98 till 09. I have not been around Dega in a car either.
My first trip around Dega on a bike was at 2 AM with just my headlight to see the track, that 33 degree banking at 100+ mph was quite the thrill for sure. Then in the 11 years after it was always fun and exciting but just not quite like the first time.

You will love it for sure,

So it is getting close! 29 days and counting.

I have had a website saved for quite a while now of a nose bra for the trip.

https://www.novistretch.com/collect...e=1&gbraid=0AAAAApfsW0x7DLoMKtxO_4NMhsFH6GAsW

Now that I am looking at it I am not spending $159 for a one time use and the install is a pain replacing all the bolts and clips with theirs.

How about Track Armour tape? Do you think it is worth it or just deal with the bugs and detail it when I arrive.

I used a Novistretch on mine. I know what you’re saying about replacing the clips with their screws, but at least they’re in place and ready to accept the nose cover at anytime if needed. I bought their mirror covers too, but never got to use them because they were so tight that the stitching ripped trying to put them on.

I'll see if I can find a video on install. Your right. It will be in place if I want to use it for a Daytona run.

You replace the push pin portion of the factory fasteners across the front hood latch cover and the lower three in each of the fender well covers with screws and trouser style snaps.

May is love bug season in Florida so if you have never heard of them, you will appreciate having the nose bra to protect the front of your car from them. They are black 1/2 inch sized bugs that congregate in masses on the roadways that will completely cover the front of your car and windshield while driving that you will eventually need to stop and clean off the windshield just to see. Most interstate/turnpike rest stops actually have windshield cleaning sprayers just to clean them off.

Search "Florida love bug season to get an idea of what you will be driving in with them.

I've heard of those but forgot about them. Bra seems like the way to go now. That could get nasty.

I just searched what you said and an article came up from April of this year.

This was a part of the article that gives me hope.

Where did the lovebugs go?
Residents and scientists have noticed a marked decline in lovebug infestation. In the last couple of years, it has become rare to see even a few during the season. Are they diminishing in Florida?

"Precipitously!" Lappla said in an email.

I hope that article is accurate. It has been years since I have been in Florida in the spring so maybe they have diminished in number. I remember living there in the spring they would be so thick at times you had to stop every 10 miles or so to clean them off the windshield just to see the road. Don't even think of using the windshield washer to clean the windshield as it would just smear all the bug guts over the windshield even worse.

If you did not clean them off the paint on front of car before they got sun baked they would literally eat the paint off car within a few days. I trick I learned to help keep them from sticking like glue was to spray the front of car with WD40 liberally before leaving home, they would wash off much easier with the paint well lubed with WD40.

Hopefully someone living in FL now can verify if their levels have diminished or not.

I do have a few friends there that I could ask. I never really thought about it until now when you brought it up. I’ll send a couple of text tonight. Maybe Adrian can shed some light since he’s there.

Bought the Novistretch today. Should have it in a few days.

Actually, after a drive, if you check your car and immediately wash the love bugs off, you should be good. Of course folks get the bras who would rather clean them than clean bugs off their car. I would be more concerned about stones. If you are driving I-4, there are a lot of construction dump trucks (at least on the S and W side of Orlando along I-4) that are infamous for throwing stones. Hopefully I-4 on and I-95 on your side of FL will not have the same problem.

Maybe tape up the backs of the mirrors for protection.
I looked at the mirror covers and I can still go back and get them but my question is since they’re not painted the color of the car and they’re just basically black plastic is it really necessary? I get the rocks but even a rock I guess it could fly off the mirror and hit the car too.
